NYC Half Marathon
Did anyone get in? I didn't and neither did a few of my friends. I am so disappointed I was really hoping to do it. Oh well!

Theres a half marathon on 4/3 in Central Park for only women that I dont think you have to qualify for...

Barely anyone on my running team got in and my sister didnt nor did her friends! SO WEIRD. I did it last year and so did like 10 of my friends...we all got in!
I wonder if it is getting more popular since they changed it from the summer to the winter? Or if they are giving out more charity spots? Very odd. It is a fun race though...I loved it last year and had a great time despite the hills of central park 
Running down Times Sq was SO fun though...almost liberating! It was like mile 10 or something and I did it at an 8 minute pace!!!!!!!

Rejected here too! I have gotten rejected every year except 2008 and I ended up not being able to do it since it turned out I was 9 months pregnant on race day (didn't know that when I registered)! I have NYRR as a "like" on FB and many are posting how angry they are that most people they know in NY did not get in. There is a "rumor" that they are doing a "second chance" lotto in mid-Jan. Not sure though. I guess they chose the people who would spend money on hotel rooms and bring revenue to the city :)

ugh - NYRR is such BS!
I did my 9+1 in 2009 and didn't get my guaranteed entry for the 2010 marathon - even after a dozen emails back and forth.
I had a guaranteed entry for the HM last year, but I, stupidly, didn't register (couldn't make the date), so I could defer it to this year.
seriously NYRR is such a political machine.

I agree Erica I think they are trying to get more ppl to fund charities! If they cannot accomodate then they should schedule 2 halfs!

No I didnt apply this year. But I ran it last year. My and all my running friends did it last year, there were like 10+ of us and we ALL got in. So weird.

I didn't get in either! I was really hoping to do it too, oh well 
I was thinking of doing the 13.1 series half marathon, its the following week, April 2nd I think. I just need for this knee pain to go away before I sign up though! Anyone ever do this race? I might do the LI half, I ran it last year and it was fun!

Only 12% of the runners are from the NY area. It really sucks!
I ran it in 2009 when it was in August- i signed up on the last day- no problem. I don't know when it all blew up- but it sux that NYers can no longer run.

I've been doing some "soul searching"
I was so run down and stressed that I had adrenal exhaustion. But I'm on my way back. Still exercising and running, just not as much.
