Posted by KarenG2003 Why are they doing this NOW when the problem seems to be getting better?
Because it's NOT getting better! There are huge problems due to damage at the ports. It's way worse than officials have shared with us. That's what I think.
I agree, I have not seen it getting better where I live, the lines are ridiculously long and only 1 in 10 stations has gas.
I agree. Looking at GasBuddy, there is NO gas in my area. When it is there, it is gone in a flash. DH and I are looking to drive up I-95 to get gas. Maybe with the rationing, we'll be able to get some on the north shore of Queens. I read online today that it will take a few weeks to get the refineries in NJ fully operational again. That's what the problem is, the supply is short.
Really? There are 10-20 minute waits by me! Come to Mt. Sinai!

What's going to stop someone from going on the wrong day and saying it's an emergency? In what way is this going to be enforced? I fear it will cause more harm than good.
Don't know if it applies to us, but it's a class B misdemeanor in the city.

I am glad they are doing this, as it has worked very well for us in NJ. There are either very short lines or no lines at all. As for enforcement, it hasn't been a problem.

exactly, if it was supposed to get better in a few days like they keep saying, they would've just made us suck it up for another few days.

I'm all for it!!! But I too think its getting better (or maybe it's just by me). Dh filled up his tank yesterday and only waited about 10 mins. The lines are definitely not as long as they were.

Definitely not significantly better in southern Nassau County. Still waits of 30 minutes to an hour and very few stations with gas. I'm thrilled they're finally doing something about it.

Not by me either. Almost all gas stations have power, close to 100% and I would say 65% of them just have no gas and there are still lines down the street everywhere for the ones that do have gas. I think that the lines are shorter FOR NOW, bc everyone has gotten gas in the last few days. I am in North Shore mid suffolk.
