NYC Tenure Question
Does anyone know if you have to work 3 years in the same district or can it be a total of 3 years anywhere in the city schools?
TIA

Re: NYC Tenure Question
Not sure if you have to stay in the district- but since you are tenured in the city as a whole I would assume that it does not matter if you switch districts. I did work in two different schools in my probationary period.

Re: NYC Tenure Question
I believe it doesnt matter where you are as long as you are teaching in your license area.

Re: NYC Tenure Question
Anywhere in the city, as long as you're working under the same license. If you teach secondary English in Brooklyn and then teach secondary English in Manhattan for a total of three years, you're eligible for tenure. If you teach English for two years and then become a guidance counselor, I think you have to start the tenure process from scratch. Am I making sense?
