NYE food?

Whatcha doing?

I’m doing cheese fondue with bread, apples, and pears for dipping. Then I’ll have a side of hams and salami. Lidl has a nice special on salami with pistachios, and then I usually get Südtirol ham.

Not sure about dessert. I still have homemade pistachio ice cream, but I want to make this recipe for flan ice cream.

Edit: my other alternative is spicy pork belly pancakes.

We usually do assorted apps. Not sure what we are doing yet though this year.

As if right now we are doing NYE and promised our friends to treat for Greek food the next time they came over. The other couples that are coming also like it so we will probably just ask them what they want and order from our local place.

Will have some desserts, drinks and we are all set.

Re: NYE food?

So we are going out to dinner but I ordered a cheese plate from a local cheese shop to be delivered to my home that day. Kind of sad that I'm ordering a cheese plate for myself but I'm excited about it. LOL

If we have a party we usually do heavy apps all night- hot and cold apps and just bring them out at different times- everyone would be stuffed

NYE food?

We ordered a bunch of apps from Omaha Steaks. We've got:
Lobster grilled cheese
Smoked prosciutto and provolone Flatbread pizza
Filet mignon bites
Chicken in pastry bites

Can't wait.

We used to do appetizers & cheese when we stayed home, but this year we were going to a party & it was canceled, so I don't have anything special. So, it might just be tacos. lol.

We’re going out on NY day for brunch and never make it to midnight lol. Thinking about grabbing some king crab’s legs at Costco if they’re available. Something decadent yet easy-never had them.

Oof-i assume that’s for 10 pounds? We certainly won’t need that much but it’s still pricey. We literally do nothing else so I don’t have an issue splurging once. ??

Insane. Lobsters too. I guess the lobsters off the coast of Maine have Covid.

We usually do an assortment of cold and hot apps.

Baked Brie
Charcuterie
Baked Clams
Spinach dip
pigs in a blanket
pretzel nuggets
hot cheese dip in a bread bowl

Is your family from northern Germany and been here for quite a while?

I’ve never had Kassler Rippchen or Knackwurst but saw them more when I lived in Frankfurt. Then again, I’m not a huge German food fan, surprisingly.

That's fun! I have always wanted to go to a NYE wedding. I looked into doing it for our wedding but it was extremely pricey. In retrospect, I should have slashed my guestlist and done it.

nothing crazy, its just a few of us. My day has kidney disease, so I'm making kidney friendly cheese spread, spiced popcorn, pineapple salsa, homemade chicken fingers for dinner, all Low low in sodium.

Now my mom is sick with COVID, I'm not feeling well I'm sure it will be an early night
