NYPD question - Hope you can answer or know someone that can (Long sorry)
I took the test in 2005 and I passed. At the time I was a few months shy of turning 35. Your results are good for 4 years. My exam expires in June 2009. I was in school at the time to get the credits I needed, but they had just dropped the salary to $25K and I didn't continue (stupid me).
Now with the recent salary increase I want to try again. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the January class, because:
1) I am pregnant 2) I am still working on getting the 38 credits I need in order to have the FULL 60 that is required.
Here are my questions:
1- If I get everything (credits wise) done by January of '09, would I able to be placed in the July class given the fact that I'm pregnant and due in April and obviously won't be able to take any type of agility test while pregnant. Oral and writen psych I can take, but physical part - obviously can't.
2- My exam expires in June of 09. If I have all of the requirements but the ONLY thing stopping me from going to the Academy or taking the PT tests is the fact that I won't give birth until April will they defer my start date to July?
I called up the application processing center and had a VERY nice woman help me. She was honest and told me in the past (before salary increase) they were giving students whose exams expired prior to the next class a furlow(sp?). They were sworn in and were able to attend the next class. She doesn't know if they are going to do that now, but said I should defenitely take a chance and if it's meant to be it will happen.
Do you think it's worth a shot?
Is there any way I can find out for sure if they will defer my exam to the next class (July) given my condition etc?
Sorry it's so long
Thanks in advance for your help!

I would call the investigator who was originally assigned to you and ask them.

I didn't get that far in the process so I'm not even sure who that would be or if I have one.

I agree with calling your investigator. They are the only ones to tell you what to really do, because you might listen to someone else who is completely wrong and mess everything up. Good luck!

Honestly- they are SOOOOO desperate for recruits that they aren't going to give you a hard time about anything. Trust me- they can't recruit for sh!t. The city tries to sweep the problem under the rug, but the truth is, they were practically PAYING people to take the test and join up.
I think you will be fine.
