I plan on moving out of state in a few years, too. After DC are at least out of high school. It's not even the taxes that are the main issue for me. I really want to have 30 to 50 or more acres of woods to live on, and there's obviously no way to do that on LI.
That sounds perfect! We're on 2.5 acres but our yard is backed up to 28 acres of preserved land and now that I've had a taste of more property and nature, I want more!! LOL Like you, we'd love to be on a ton of land in the woods one day. I'd love to buy property at some point and then build a beautiful log cabin which has been my dream for decades. You definitely can't do that on LI which is why we always wanted to leave.
That sounds nice, where did you move to?
Crazy as this might sound, NJ! We had NO idea that western NJ had areas like this and could be so nice. It's really different from what you'd expect NJ to be. We were pleasantly surprised.
I have family in Long Valley and Newton and both are such nice areas of Jersey
Long Valley is beautiful, we aren't far from there. We looked at a few homes in that area but the commute for my DH would've been just a little too far.
