Re: Oasis of the Seas

Thanks!!! Great Pics!!

I am sure I will have tons of questions.
Was just on Cruise Critic today and they only have 11 excursions for St. Thomas and they are saying this is it. I am thinking we will need to get a taxi on our own to Megan's Bay then.

Our room is on the 9th floor facing central park. We have 2 adults and 2 kids so they will have to share the pullout bed. Hopefully they won't kill each other-lol!!

Re: Oasis of the Seas

Oasis was great ! Lots to do, lots to see AND you never feel like there are 6,000 people on this ship.
We went in April with 16 other people and had a blast.
Check in is quick and very organized. RC has its own terminal in Ft. Lauderdale. It's a 10 minute ride from the airport.
You can get on the ship early, just not into your cabin unless it is ready, so take essentials like bathing suits in a carry on.

Have a wonderful time !

Yes, the last cruise we took the kids did not having their bathing suits on so they couldn't swim until later on and they were so upset. They have already told me they are wearing their suits under their clothes this time-lol!!
I am going today to pay off my balance so we will be "officially" on the cruise. Chat Icon

SOOOO quick. we had an early flight into FL (arrived at 1030) and we were expecting to wait in the terminal until 3pm - (states online that you board at 3)

after getting our bags and taking a taxi to the RC terminal it was about 15 minutes and they let us on right away which was GREAT.

getting off the ship was just as easy. we got off earlier that expected (730 am) so we ended up switching out 230 pm flight to a 945 am flight home.

we didnt do any excursions. it actually rained like crazy in St. Thomas - we were planning on taking a taxi to meghans bay but we ended up taking the local "safari taxi" (its the bus system for the locals cost 2 bucks instead of 10!) to red hook and went to a restaurant/bar called fish tails. so we sat inside and watched the rain and drank. LOL.

central park was soooo pretty - nice than i expected.

we ate at chops grill one night and it was outrageous. im not a steak person and i LOVED it.. maybe you and DH can go one night. i think its 25 a person. - SO worth it.

we also ate a giovannis table (extra 15 perperson) and that was great too.

we did the chefs table (75 per person) great food and great experience. they did a food/wine paring and there were only 12 other people. it was sooo good but if youre not into that kind of thing i wouldnt suggest it.

bring on the questions!

Re: Oasis of the Seas

Thanks!!
We will try and do a speciality restaurant. When we went on NCL 2 years ago, we were able to do 2 of them when the kids went to the kids club. Hopefully they will want to go again.
Just paid off the balance and I actually got money off because I had credit from using the RCCL cc card. I was going to use it for the excursions but it all evens out anyway as that is the cc I am going to use for my seapass card.
Did you try the Seafood Shack? My son wants to go there and have clam chowder-lol!!
Were the "special" drinks, like the floataway one when you leave watered down?

My dh does not drink wine so would this be a good place for us then?

So $75/person would be worth it if I had wine and he just had the dinner? What kind of food did they serve?
