I agree Dina. I'm afraid to watch the election tomorrow- if Obama wins I may really cry.

so far, reasons he seems untrustworthy to me:

Rev Wright
Ayers
LA Times refusing to release the tape about Rashid Kalidi (sp?)
Michelle Obama saying we are a "mean country"

His whole attitude about apologizing to the world for us- to me, he doesn't seem proud to be an American.

ITA!

And Michelle Obama also said that this is the first time she can truely say she is proud to be an American" just because her husband is running

seriously - i cannot believe how the media has portrayed him and censored ANYTHING that put him in a negative light

unbelievable
oh, and he wants to create a civilian army??

um, history? sound familiar??

I agree with all of this. It is just unbelievable that someone who would NOT be able to work for the FBI because of his unbelievable shady backround, is most likely going to become President.

Actually, a DC lawyer who specializes in security clearance work said that Obama would be an excellent candidate for the FBI, and that "agencies would fight over him."

honestly Dina. Chat Icon

clearly what he is saying that the CARBON EMISSION payments the companies would have to make would BANKRUPT them.

come on.

And besides McCain never lied right Chat Icon Chat Icon

can we all say KEATING 5?

Oh course you can. In this instance you are referring to Senators John Glenn and John McCain were cleared of having acted improperly but were criticized for having exercised "poor judgment" bu the Senate Ethics Committee.

I don't believe there is a politician that always tells the truth.

what you say is true but there is far more. McCain took over $100k in campaign contributions from Keating. he flew on Keating's private plane to vacation at his home in the Caribbean more than once. Keating arranged a sweetheart real estate deal for McCain's wife and her father. when McCain decided to back out of the deal he was making with Keating he went to the media and sold his colleagues up the river to save his own skin and never returned any of the gifts he received from Keating. he may have been criticized for "exercising poor judgment" but he was involved up to his neck. for someone who "lives in a glass house" he sure had alot of nerve throwing stones at Obama over Ayers.

So what about G. Gordon Liddy, another unrepentent terrorist, being a good friend of John McCain's?

I guess republican terrorists are okay.

I agree, there is much more too it and I'm sure this isn't the whole story but I feel that way about Obama and his affiliations with Ayers and Wright...it doesn't smell good. I see the Keating 5 for McCain the same way I see Rev. Wright and Ayers for Obama.

no offense, but I find that repulsive. we need to bring this country back to life. I'm sure that the 800,000 people who lost their job this year or 100's of thousands who lost their homes really give a rats butt about the enviroment.

I see lots of talking about issues.

I see lots of hypocrisy.

I see people spouting off and not doing any real research, which is why, at the moment, I'm not commenting on the actual issue. I'll admit that I'm tired and had trouble wrapping my head around it.

However, has it occurred to anyone that making changes and improvements to improve the environment will create jobs?

no. I find it repulsive that some people's priorities are so far out of whack. and if you or a loved one worked in this industry, I'm sure you would feel differently about it. or if you were one of the unfortunates who lost their job and can't make ends meet, only to be slapped by higher utility bills.

lets dream about the future when our present is in the toilet.

I wasn't referring to the coal industry, as I said in that post that I hadn't read the piece in enough depth to comment. What I said after that was written in general terms, as I didn't reference the coal industry.

“So what?” Americans in Manhattan, Malibu, and Miami might think. “We ain’t got no stinkin’ coal mines.”

Well, Americans happen to rely on coal for 48.7 percent of our electricity.

Yes but when will these "Alternative energy sources" be in place to supply Americans? You cannot just tax the coal industry to the point of collapse without other alternatives already working and in place. Meanwhile, you will have lots of folks out of a job...working class citizens out of a job. YES alternative energy creates jobs, but for whom??? College educated folks who are engineers, not a coal miner. Even if you were to give these coal miners jobs in the "alternative energy" field...who will train them? How much will that cost? Will tax payer pay for that too?

You can have clean coal energy, IT IS possible. You can give tax breaks to the coal industry as incentive to create cleaner emissions. The less emissions you have, the more tax breaks you get type of thing, not the opposite. I do not have all the answers on how we should create alternative energy sources...but I do know that you need those alternatives in place before you put the coal industry into extinction. I do know how business owners see things and to tax business owners more is NOT the way to create jobs.
