OBs that deliver @ Stony Brook?
Anyone have one that delivers @ Stony Brook? I need one that is going to be willing to work w/ Dr. Kofinas. TIA!
I'd prefer one who sees high risk patients as well.

Thank you! I'm still too nervous to do an intro over here... I'm going to wait a while before I do that! We got good news today, but we have to go back Monday to see if the 2nd has a heartbeat. My dr. seemed confident that they would though!

No idea about him working w/ other drs, but I see David Reavis in Patchogue, who delivers at Stony Brook.

I highly recc. Deborah Davenport of Three Village Women's Health 689 6400. She works out of SB and is so highly regarded.

Last I checked, Dr. Davenport wasn't taking new patients.
I go to Stony Brook Associates in ob/gyn, and they have high risk drs there (I go to Dr. Conway or Dr. Johnson, who are not high risk, but I like both of them).

Re: OBs that deliver @ Stony Brook?
Sorry to crash, but I just switched to Stony Brook OBGYN on Technology Drive. I see Dr. Melissa Stafford and she is amazing! The whole office is fantastic.
Although not PG yet, I'm in the process of finding out if I will become high risk or not and will also be looking for a high risk dr. that delivers at Stony Brook.
Good luck!

That's where I go, and the only problem is the wait time. On Tues. I went for an appt and there was a 2-hour wait. I left and rescheduled. It wasn't so bad my first PG, but it seems like it's gotten more busy.

I go to the Stony Brook Midwives. They have a few offices. I go to the one in Islip Terrace. There is a high risk ob/gyn at the office because a lot of the ladies that go there go for a VBAC so it's a must that you have a visit with the high risk dr to assess if whether or not you are a good candidate or in case something goes wrong.

That's what I heard too. I didn't see her at all my last pregnancy (maybe once). But she was on call the day I delivered DS, so I got her. And my next appointment is with her as well.

a few people told me about them and all of them had the same complaint, so I didn't even try them

I see Dr Ogburn at that practice (he is an MFM). I have never waited more than 20 minutes, but I also went during the day if that makes a difference. He was willing to work with my regular OB.
I also want to say Congrats! I have followed your story and am over the moon happy for you. I will be keeping you and your LO's in my prayers!

Re: OBs that deliver @ Stony Brook?
Congratulations!!!! :)
I go to Dr.Jennifer Johnson, love her, shes's hard to get in with. She's not a high risk Dr., but her husband Dr. Figueroa is. He's great too, I believe he's the head of the dept. as well. Dr. Ogburn delivered my son, it was a planned c-section, he's high risk as well. I was told by a nurse that he's one of the smartest Drs. Dr. Griffin was great too, but he's not high risk & he no longer delivers. Hth...Good luck!!! :)

Re: OBs that deliver @ Stony Brook?
I got to Stony Brook Gynecology and Obstetrics (not to be confused with the one on Technology drive).
I see Dr. Porte and he delivered DS#1 and will be delivering DS#2. I also like Dr. O'Keefe and Dr. Welischar in the practice. They have offices in E. Setauket, Rocky Point and Sayville.
I'm considered somewhat high risk and Dr. Porte takes all precautions with me. I'm oveweight and suffer from chronic high-blood pressure, as well as suffered a v-tack while coming out of routine surgery in the past. He's had me meet with the high-risk Dr. he works with which is Dr. Figueroa at StonyBrook OBGYN on Technology Drive. Dr. Figueroa is very thorough and the two times I've meet with him everything has gone well.

same for me, word for word. eta: i've never waited more than 10 mins for an appt AND they do 2 saturdays a month, too.

Re: OBs that deliver @ Stony Brook?
Thanks so much everyone! My Dr. had recommended Dr. Figueroa and Dr. Johnson when I spoke with him (after I posted this) but he isn't sure that they will work with Dr. Kofinas since Dr. Figueroa is high risk (from what I can see) and I think my dr. said he's a perionatologist, so I doubt he'll take orders from another peri, kwim? I am going to speak with my dr. more about it next week. I have time--- he won't be releasing me until 10 weeks and I'm only 6 today. I was hoping to see an OB as well in the meantime though...

I'm going to be honest, I just today switched from Dr. Johnson because the wait times are so insane. She only works P/T, so she is BUSY. I just switched to Dr. Rimpel (same practice), who I heard great things about, and she's not a high risk.
