First priority goes to current students. DH and I both went there. DH spoke to one of his former professors who said it next to impossible to get tickets.
So pi$$ed I just finished there in August too

The only tickets were given to students in the lottery (even the university president will not be in the room, he is giving up his seat to a student).

Re: October 15th debate is at Hofstra
There will only be 200 seats availlable and as a PP mentioned, the current students have to enter a lottery to win those tickets. Then people will be placed on wait lists just in case people cancel. At this point unless you are really lucky and get to win a ticket you will be watching the debate on the t.v.
I think they also mentioned that the ticket is not transferable- so if a student wins it, they can not give the ticket to a Non-Hofstra registered student.

That's correct, students who win the lottery have to have a full background check completed.

My company is setting up their networks etc. for that night. We had to have all employees who are going to be onsite that night for tech support pre-screened and background checked by sercret service a few months ago. Exciting that it's going to be right on Long Island!

The more I've thought about it, the more I'd rather watch at home. I'm not sure I could keep my mouth shut throughout the entire debate.
