Bay Shore Target had a sign today stating masks were mandatory for all. The sign said they are a high risk area.

Had to run some errands this morning and the Sayville Target had a sign saying it was a high transmission area and masks were strongly ENCOURAGED. Not mandatory. I purposely read it Because I remembered this thread.
I'd say 75% of people were maskless still though.
Including children clearly too young to be vaccinated.

Stop n Shop had a similar sign. Strongly encouraged.

I know our governor was stripped of his emergency powers and now has bigger fish to fry with his own criminal charges so I guess that's why it's not mandated again too

Went to Party City today and the sign said no masks needed if vaccinated. No other new signage. I think I was the only one without a mask on.

I was in the city today and many stores had signs that said “due to low frequency of vaccinations, masks required for everybody.”

That's funny because a few months ago I went into a 711 that had the same sign...same thing though, no employee or customer was masked inside.
I think that's a standard sign at all 7-11s, probably from months ago and they never took it down

My husband doesn't really go in, but his office never removed the mask requirement.

Today, in Whole foods, right next to the sign that said vaccinated people don't need to wear masks was a sign that said the CDC recommends that everyone wears a mask indoors.

So, they are basically just sticking with government announcements. NYS says you don't have to, but CDC says you should.

All of the staff was masked & I think previously it was a mix. The customers were mixed.

I did notice more people in my neighborhood putting their masks on as they went into stores & most people a the farmers market were masked even though it is outside, because peo[pe are kind of on top of each other with the way it is laid out. They haven't required it yet this year, and the staff wasn't masked.

I ran about 72 errands today and all of the stores has signs saying masks are to be worn regardless of vaccination status. I don’t think I saw anyone not wearing a mask.

While I don’t have a problem wearing a mask, it makes me so sad that we were thisclose to being done and now we’re not anymore.

I just think people don't know what to do anymore. I was at Kolh's, Target and Stop and Shop today and there was only about 25% of people in masks. All staff was though.

Same. Target, stop and shop and dining out tonight. Not many masks.
There are no more mandates and we currently have a lame duck governor with no emergency powers so it's pretty much just strongly "suggested " on every sign I have seen

I’m saying the opposite was true for me. I didn’t see anyone without a mask. Everyone obviously got the same memo here Chat Icon

I noticed that at all the stores I went to the staff all had masks on. I feel like masks for all customers will be next

Re: office mandating masks again

Yes we just put it in place for our office on Monday august 2nd.

You don’t have to wear it at your desk but if you get up to walk to common areas you must wear it.

Also we closed our conference rooms

I have a feeling my office will be mandating masks again soon. As long as it’s not mandating a vaccine, I’m ok with the masks I guess. Hopefully it won’t be as strict as last time. We were required to wear them even if alone!

Funny that the numbers supposedly go up in the hundreds every day but stores and restaurants are packed. Knock on wood I don’t know anyone sick right now also.

Something doesn’t add up.

...that's probably why the numbers go up everyday. Because everything is packed now. Scientifically it makes sense that the more packed something is, the more people will end up sick. People are back to their nasty habits, namely hand washing and lack thereof. So I believe it.

We went to Lake Placid last year, right when stuff opened up again in July. Every single thing was sanitized. You used a life jacket, they sprayed it down. Touched the pens at check in, sanitized. This year, everything was back to business as usual. Rarely saw people sanitizing, etc. So when hygiene habits go back to pre-pandemic style, it makes sense why people would be getting sick again. The virus spreads like a common cold does and we all know how many people have colds at any given time...a bunch.

My point being that if people are positive, wouldn’t they be home sick and not out shopping and eating at restaurants?

I don’t believe in over sanitizing and honestly I hate the stuff and barely have used it ever. I also know many who barely wash their hands. I hate my hands dirty so I am constantly cleaning them but these people haven’t and don’t get sick often either.

You have way to much faith in people.......you can't get them to wash their hands, why would they think to stay home when sick? Honestly half of them probably don't even bother getting tested.

It's getting way too long to quote, but, you do realize how many millions of people live on Long Island alone right? So hundreds of people being home sick with covid really would have no impact on the amount of people in stores and restaurants. The arguments about this are just getting silly now.

1.5 million in Suffolk county. Out to eat and the mall is packed as well as every restaurant we passed. Eating out, no masks on staff and restaurant pretty busy too.
Funny how people were lining up for vaccines, numbers went down, even with the mask mandate lifted at the end of May. They can’t get the numbers to go up.
Maybe you trust more than I do but I saw what Coumo did the opposite way. Just a realist.

This is a different variant though. I'm not really sure what you're getting at. I'm not sure if you are implying that they are lying about the numbers. But packed malls, stores and restaurants in a county with 1.5 million people doesn't mean that no one is home sick. You just like to argue about everything it's so crazy.
