Thought we could start an ongoing thread reporting conditions, damages, loss of power.

Maybe someone can start one for Nassau, too.

Please list what town you're reporting from and time.

Feel free to report damages, closed roads, power losses in areas, conditions, etc.

Hopefully this can help us all out.

Stay safe!

I've been checking LIPA's outage map periodically. It shows where the outages are and how many are effected and is updated every 15 minutes.

Good idea !

Northern New Jersey: quiet, no rain, very light wind, but basically quiet.
ETA: Sorry didn't see it was just for Suffolk county.

Pretty bad. I already have a few old railings on my porch that have been dislodged.

So far just some gusts. Nothing too alarming. Hope it stays this way. I'm in Ronkonkoma.

Holbrook and the winds are picking up. We lost a large branch into our pool already! I'm getting nervous for tomorrow

We are in Ridge which is known as icy hollow because it's generally a few degrees colder here and we typically have a wind the blows from the north even when it's not stormy.
The winds were pretty violent last night, I see a few small branches down already.
We live very close to a large lake but luckily the water level has been very low all year so I dont think we will have any flooding. Power loss is pretty much guaranteed at some point today

My DH went out this am & said water is a foot from the top of the canal on Montauk Hwy in Lindy/Amityville. Strong winds; no rain yet.

I hear wind once in a while in St. James, nothing crazy. Once it gets lighter out, I'll be able to see what the trees are doing and it will probably seem worse.

Saw this on tv, the worst is yet to come for us:

Kelly, I live right by you on the lake. Since we've only been here a few months, I was curious if we had to be concerned about the lake. I'm nervous because the state park is directly across the street from me and those trees are hovering right over all the power lines. Ugh!

Re: Official Suffolk Sandy Reports (conditions, damages, loss of power)

I'm in my office right next to the airport(Islip MacArthur). It looks dark and spooky out.. the trees will occassionally do a real deeeeep sway and bend.. but then go back to just normal rainstorm wind conditions.

On my way to work I noticed a lot of small broken tree limbs in the road.. nothing insane. I'm hoping it stays relatively mild!

Re: Official Suffolk Sandy Reports (conditions, damages, loss of power)

The boss closed down our office today since most of the job sites were shut down (we are a local 25 contractor). So, I'm home in West Islip. So far just wind gusts. The power blinked a few times.

Nothing exciting/crazy/scary yet.

DH left 2 hours ago to get the milk I left at my parents' house yesterday and hasn't come back yet. I assume he's there helping my dad with stuff. They live on the bay and the water was splashing onto the docks yesterday afternoon.
