Oh, all the holiday tipping questions...

So, I know there are posts on this every single year but I had to create this one because this is the first holiday season that I have a child in day care and I need to know what to do.

My son has 2 main teachers that are in with his group, 2-3 year olds, all the time. They are two very nice woman who we all really like and who are truly child care workers by calling! Also, when Benji first started in March of this year he was getting some special attention from them because he was the youngest in the group and didn't even talk yet. He has been in this day care center for total of 7 months.

What should I tip? Do I give a percentage of our monthly tuition or does it not have anything to do with it? Also, do you normally just give the money do you add a little something like chocolates or a nice box of cookies?

Since you don't actually pay their salary, I would not tip cash. I would get a gift certificate or gift card for them and a little something personal.

We are in the same boat (first year with daycare). I think I will give her teacher (she has one main one) a gift card (haven't decided whether a general AMEX or to somewhere specific yet) and maybe make/buy something for the rest of the aides in her room to enjoy.

I'd love to hear other suggestions/thoughts as well!

I would too. What if you do pay their salary(in home care) with one assistant? Do you give cash? I was planning on giving them gift cards to Target.

I am giving cash, because for what they do, I don't think they get paid enough (although I pay the center enough money Chat Icon )

I will attach it to a bag of moose munch from Harry and David

When you guys say you are giving cash do you know the amount you will be giving? I am pretty sure I will be giving cash as well, I am just not sure how much to give...
