Oh the gas pains....
Ugh, I just don't know what to do anymore. She has the WORST gas pains. She's SCREAMING and can't get it out by herself. It sounds like someone's stabbing her she's crying so bad while DH helps her get them out.
Nothing seems to help either (massage, mylicon, gas x, mylanta...)
She seems to be in so much pain
Anyone else going through the gas issues with DC so bad?

Re: Oh the gas pains....
Are you eating anything that could affect her?
Are you BF or using a bottle to feed her BM?
Just throwing some questions out there to find out why.
I also find out that I have to slow down DS when he feeds either bottle or breast. Since my milk comes out so fast, he has to swallow very fast too and I read that babies can swallow air too when milk comes to fast.

As for the eating, yes, I'm sure I haven't been as careful as I should. I just don't know what it could have been. I spoke to my sister about it and she says that food should affect your milk within a few hours, so I really haven't had anything today that would have... not a significant amount at least. But maybe it just takes a little with her
I am EBF from the breast. She no longer will take to the bottle (not that we're really trying)
And yes, she gulps on the right since it's "super boob" and I notice when she's on the left she makes a "clicking" sound.
Oh god.... it's all my fault

Re: Oh the gas pains....
I think I'm going to try the old school remedy and give her a little bit of fennel tea. My cousin SWORE by this with her boys... her ped was old skool and said to do that.
I just did a search on Babycenter and one woman suggested the same thing.
I mean it can't be any worse than the drops or Gripe water (which has fennel in it)

Oh no.. did not mean to make you feel guilty.
I have the same issue with DS. He usually can fart on his own but sometimes it's not enough.
I know my foremilk comes very fast so I have the same issue.
I am lucky that he can take either the breast or bottle. As long as it's food, he is happy.
I use Dr. Browns.

Re: Oh the gas pains....
and also, I noticed today that her hiney hole is a bit red I think that the acidity in her gas/poop irritates it so that's not helping either.
I just feel so bad for her

Re: Oh the gas pains....
MY DS has been very fussy lately after i feed him. I EBF as well and I just cant seem to calm him down all the time. ITs not that bad yet but i really think he has some mild gas issues. I hope tomorrow will be a better day.

Re: Oh the gas pains....
My sister used the fennel seeds with my niece for her gas when she had such problems. Does rubbing her tummy help at all? Does her pediatrician recommend anything to help the poor child? I hope the gas pains ease and very soon

Re: Oh the gas pains....
I hope it went well. I know DD gets bad gas pains as well. I'm exclusively pumping w/ her & I know if I eat something gassy/spicy its real bad w/ her. Also I've had to slow her down...easy to do w/ the bottle, not so much the breast. I also try pumping her legs like a bicycle to get the gas out or lay her on my lap on her tummy & rub her back.
Good luck!

DD had that and her Ped suggested mixing a little desitin with mylanta or maylox and putting it on her butt to cut the acidity.

Awww it's so not your fault.
Sounds to me like your let down on the super boob is fast. Let her suck til you feel the let down, then hand express some milk out til the let down slows and put her back to the breast. The super fast milk flow could be adding to swallowing more air.
The clicking sound you hear, how's her latch, sounds like she's taking in air from a poor latch, how is your nip on that side, does it hurt? When she pulls off is it flat? Or do you notice she isn't taking it all in?
Don't blame yourself, you ARE DOING GREAT!!!! You are great mommy!!!
I know how hard it is to have a baby who just has the piercing cry, it's so heartbreaking. My second DD is formula fed and I go through the same thing
Hang in there
