Re: oh wow teachers
I am almost 7 weeks and was on the verge of a breakdown today. It took everything I had in me not to fall asleep as I was giving the listening portion of my kids midterm today.
I was like a zombie ALLLLLLLLL day! I am scared of how much worse it might get!

Re: oh wow teachers
I am dying to tell my kids so they can understand why I sit all the time and am so tired while teaching!
To top it off I just started teaching an extra class so I have 4 in a row I am spent by the time lunch rolls around!
Bring on a snow day this week!

telling the kids is the BEST...they are so cute and cracking me up with it every day!! My 2nd graders (I teach music 1-5) are particularly obsessed with it. It's so funny! I got tons of pictures and cards for the baby...so funny, saying "You rock, the baby rocks"

Oh that is the cutest!
I teach 7th and 8th graders. 2 years ago when I was expecting they were adorable and very enthusiastic and supportive. I don't know what I am waiting for, but am looking forward to telling this group, too.

Re: oh wow teachers
tell me about it. i actually got a very good class this year but i'm teaching a self contained middle school class of kids with autism and THEY'RE ALL BOYS. don't get me wrong, they're good kids, but they wear me out... (the four flights of stairs i'm constantly running up and down and the 20 minute walk to and from work don't help either...)
i'm still trying to figure out how to tell them actually.... i find it so awkward... (any suggestions would be awesome!)

Re: oh wow teachers
I too am tired most days. I teach at the HS level so this is midterm and Regents week but it is still tiring because I am running around and proctoring. Tomorrow and Wednesday I have late proctorings too and with the special ed students it is always a long day.
I haven't told my students yet either. I don't really know how to bring it up. I am also not really showing yet so it is easier to hide.

Re: oh wow teachers
I just ended my 2nd trimester burst of energy and I am in my third trimester NO energy.. I count down the periods every day until I can go home and put my feet up, now that my feet are swelling too.. it really is hard!!! being on your feet and, for me, teaching the SAME lesson over and over again.. my poor baby is going to HATE social studies!!! Shes heard every lesson 4 times a day... haha

I fell asleep during my prep today. One of the teacher aids walked in and I had a red mark on my head where I was resting it on my arms. THank God it wasn't my principal or anything!

Re: oh wow teachers
I am 30 weeks and have minimal energy. I didn't have the "burst" during the second trimester this pregnancy. I also have a toddler so I am sure that makes a huge difference. There is no putting up my feet when I get home from work. 9PM is the earliest I get to relax.

Cute! I work with HS special ed (speech therapist) and the boys are so funny. They are always running over everytime I drop something or helping me up if I am sitting on the floor for a project or something. The girls just rub my belly and talk to the baby! too cute.

I also work in a school but not a teacher - School Psychologist! I have actually felt a bit better the past two weeks. My job gets so crazy (annual review season for those in special ed) once I enter third trimester! I am enjoying this wave of energy for now

Re: oh wow teachers
I give you all credit for working!! A lot of people do not understand how hard it is to be a teacher. You usually hear comments like you get out early and blah blah blah. I am a speech therapist and my district was having me travel to 3 different schools with in the district. They found out over the summer I was preg. with twins and they knew I went through a lot to get preg. So I was surprised when I saw my caseload for the year. After the first week of school my Perinatalogist put me on medical leave. He made sure to write that I am not on bedrest but being in a possible stressful environment can be harmful to the babies since I am high risk. Looking back over the past 4 months, I don't think I would have been able to handle working. Once again I think you all have hard jobs and give you all so much credit!!

If you don't mind me asking, what made him put you on bedrest? Anything specific? And how far along were you when he did that?
I ask because I am 30 weeks and just feel like I am not going to be able to do this too much longer. Teaching and being on my feet all day is taking a toll on me. I'm very swollen, horrible back pain, pressure down below, etc.

That is good about the bedrest.
I can't afford to go on bedrest because then I won't get paid. I am going to try to stay until the end.

Re: oh wow teachers
My first trimester went from last April through to the end of the year. It was AWFUL. It took every last ounce of my strength to get through those days, and I was taking 3 hour naps every single day after school.
I thought I'd feel better as soon as I hit the 2nd trimester, but it took me until about 16 weeks to start feeling semi-normal again.
