Re: oh wow teachers
I hear ya! It is exhausting being on your feet all day, talking all day and constantly being "on". Worst of all, because I'm so busy, I know I'm not drinking enough water and I'm getting a little worried about that. Luckily, I'm now in my second trimester and feeling world's better, but I still leave as soon as the day is over and just bring the work home with me. It's not as convenient as being in my room while I do the work and having everything right at my fingertips, but we have to do what we have to do.
I'm finally realizing that my kid is more important to me than other people's kids and I need to take care of myself and the baby. It feels so liberating finally thinking that! I've always been so hard on myself to "be the best I can be" and I now see that at this point in my career sometimes "good enough" is simply good enough. One of the other teachers in my school went out on bedrest having preterm contractions at 7 months because she pushed herself too hard in school and I don't want that to be me.
Good luck to all us teacher mommas!

Re: oh wow teachers
yeah the idea of teaching in the heat of June...yiiiiikes. I'm gonna try to go at least til June 12. We'll see if that happens. I know it sounds crazy but I just PRAY I don't go early- I have our spring concert May 28! And I'm going to schedule a smaller concert for the first week of June (though if that doesn't happen it's probably not a big deal). I'm so worried about all the swelling that happens around the time- don't want to be TOO uncomfortable!
And 'teachergal' you are exactly right- our family comes first, and our health especially! I tend to forget this often because I'm so into what I do...and DH always has to remind me- if the concert doesn't happen, life will go on!
But I hate the thought of it!

Tara- that is my target end date too! Let's hope we can make it until June 12th. Hopefully for me that will be our last day of classes and then finals/Regents begin so it may work out. We shall see!
