OHSS/hyperstimulation questions
Im at very high risk for hyperstimulation given my history. Due to all the drama with the doctors, I didnt do the ideal protocol for those who hyperstim, which is a lupron trigger, so we are doing the best we can and monitoring me very closely.
Do you know what your estrogen levels were before retrieval? It's my understanding that they pretty much plateau at that point and then go down. At this point it's 3000 so we dont expect it to go higher and as long as I feel ok after retreival, we will still transfer.
When did you start feeling pain? I know that I'm having some pain right now but I'm wondering if it's more due to the fact that I have over 20 follies, even though I am very familiar with this specific pain. Plus I'm peeing every hour! I'm trying to hold out hope that its due to all the follies and not hyperstim!
Did you take Dostinex? Did it help? I'm going to start it after retrieval as a precaution.
Whether you had OHSS or just mild hyperstimulation, how long did it last? Did you have to do anything else to treat it? Did you have to cancel your transfer? How come?
TIA!!

Re: OHSS/hyperstimulation questions
i did a lupron trigger. my e2 before the ER was like in the 6000s though!! 18 eggs were retrieved, all mature. the day of the ER i felt ok (prob due to the IV meds) but the next 3 days after i felt terrible like i got hit by a truck in my abdomen. very very bloated and i remember it being hard to walk and stand up. i was not given any meds for it. we did a 5dt. by the 5dt i was still in pain but def less bloated. they did note that my ovaries were enlarged but not enough to stop the transfer. at that point i believe it was just hyperstimulation. by about 3dp5dt i woke up feeling fine. i was sooooo scared that it didn't work because i heard if it works you start to feel worse. at 7dp5dt i got a very very dark BFP and 1st beta at 8dp5dt was 197. second beta at 10dp5dt was 479. the day after the second beta i swelled up gigantically. over the next 48 hours i gained 9lbs of fluid. it was mild OHSS but i wasn't given any meds or anything. it took about 2 weeks (around the time of the first sono) for the swelling and weight gain to go down although i did stay bloated until it turned to baby belly. drinking gatorade and drinks high in electorlytes helped. and eating only small meals because large ones would absolutely kill me. good luck!!

Re: OHSS/hyperstimulation questions
When I was with my first doctor, he was very careless and allowed my e2 to get very high. For one cycle it was above 9000. I always triggered with Lupron and still had symptoms of OHSS because of the e2. Needless to say, I never got pregnant. I believe part of the reason was the high e2.
The cycle I did get pregnant with my new doctor, my e2 never went above 3000. I triggered with hcg and was terrified of OHSS because the doctor retrieved over 50 eggs. I was scared because of all the things my old doctor had told me about Lupron etc. I didn't get OHSS because the doctor knew what he was doing and my estrogen never went too high. I actually felt much better that cycle even though he got so many eggs. I had a much better cycle and I am pregnant with twins.
If you estrogen isn't too high, you should be okay. It's still good to be careful, but your estrogen number is usually a good indication.
Good luck!
