Oil contract up today - should I wait to lock in again?

So my contract is up today with Petro. I've heard that it might make sense to wait a couple of months when oil prices may be lower to negotiate a new contract (with Petro or anyone else). Does this make sense? Also, am I taking a bad risk by not having a service contract in place? I'm thinking since the warmer weather is almost here it might be OK.

Thanks for your opinions!

i would say ordinarily getting your oil contract in the summer is a good idea, however, oil prices are not going down anytime soon IMO..

also getting an oil contract is a good idea..

We just have a service contract with a burner guy, then I call around for the cheapest price when I need a delivery. I am nervous about being locked in- my SIL is locked in to a price that is about $ .60 higher per gallon than what I have been paying- that's a $120 difference when you get 200 gallons delivered. It's so hard to predict what the price will be b/c it fluctuates so much.

We are in the same boat as you. Our contract with General ended last month and when I called for a new contract they said they are not Capping prices for contracts now. I may use them for a service contract which is $125 a year. They have been great as far as service and just call around for COD oil.

Wow - $25 a year? That's great. Maybe I should do that as well. Thanks.
