Oil delivery question
I know this is going to sound really stupid, but forgive me...we JUST closed on our house less than a week ago and I am so clueless about certain things.
The oil tank had 90 gal left at the time of closing. I'm planning on doing C.O.D. on our next delivery. When do you call for a delivery?????? I mean, how low do you let it go before you start making calls?
Thanks!

Re: Oil delivery question
Ours just comes as well, don't need to call, but with COD it might be different.

Re: Oil delivery question
We do COD & you need to call, they won't come automatically. Lately we wait for it to be at 1/4 & then we call. they will come the next day for us.

Re: Oil delivery question
We have automatic delivery for our oil.
What you need to be certain of, since you just closed.
If the previous owners signed a contract (1 year) with any oil company, you are obligated to that contract, and by going COD, you may cause more headaches for yourself and get fined by the contracted oil co.
Be sure there is no contract, and then you're safe to go COD. Don't let the tank go lower than 50 gallons - so best bet is to call now and schedule for Friday/Sat delivery.

Re: Oil delivery question
We have a 250 tank and we waited for it to go down to 1/4 before we called.
They came next day and filled it while we were at work.
$600 later we had a full tank

Re: Oil delivery question
We have a contract and they deliver oil about every 5-6 weeks. They bill us and I send in payment.

We also are on COD. We also have a 250 gallon tank. We were told to wait until it reaches 1/4 in the tank. When purchasing the oil, the more you put in, the less expensive it will be
For instance, we just filled up about 2 weeks ago If we needed under 200 gallons it would have been 2.91 a gallon. But if we needed over 200 gallons, it would be 2.86 a gallon.
So if your tank is under 1/4 and you have a 200 gallon tank - chances are - you will be paying the less amount.
Did I explain that clearly enough?
Also be careful, if it is an old tank, be sure that the thing that tells you the level of how much isn't sticking. We have this problem occasionally and we needed 238 gallons the last time we filled (again it was a 250 gallon tank) - so we were really low

Re: Oil delivery question
We have COD, but they still come automatically. I just left my debit card on file with them and they leave me a slip on how much the delivery was. We use Count On Fuel.
