Oil delivery question...
Last August we signed an oil contract with Slomin's for $2.64/gallon - boy was that a good deal looking back!
Our contract technically doesn't expire until August and we are not 100% full so I figured I could request a delivery in like July that would hold us over. We are about 3/4 full now.
I just called Slomin's and had the most GIGANTIC argument with them as they are refusing to deliver less than a 1/2 a tank to me and said I am not due for a delivery until September when my contract has already expired.
Can they do this? I read through my contract from last year and no where does it say that I have to have deliveries of a specific amt in order to have a delivery. I even offered to pay a "delivery fee" if necessary and they are still refusing.
I told the sales rep from last year that we will NEVER use them again and we were very good COD customers and currently owe them nothing from the past season!
This is all because they have obviously exhausted their $2.64 supply and if they deliver to me now they will be losing nearly $2 per gallon. I don't really care, and that's not my problem. I paid them $100 for a service contract on which i had ZERO problems all season so they saved $ on me there
UGHHHHHHHHHHH!
Sorry so long - i am so ANGRYYYYY!

Re: Oil delivery question...
yea what a way to stand by your contract... in the contract it says for 364 days from date of contract. they knew the oil bubble was going to explode - do i have any sort of recourse against them???

I did this once and they came and topped me off. I think I got like 80 gallons.
Threaten them. Tell them either deliver it or you aren't renewing.
End of story.
Or tell them you are out of oil. LOL When they ***** and say they will "charge" you because they delivered such a small amount... tell them they can blow it out their *** and show you in your contract where you get charged for too little of a delivery.

Re: Oil delivery question...
And speaking of Slomins, they can kiss my *** anyways. They aren't bad for alarm service, but there is no way in hell I am renewing with them on Oil.
They have ****** me off so many times. They ***** and moan if you want a cleaning. They will say it was already cleaned.
When my second floor heating went out during the really cold week we had last winter, they said and i quote "well we can't get somebody out there tonight... you can sleep on the first floor when you have heat".
Unbelieveable. They are so gone after this contract is up.

I literally have to lie to these people everytime I need something from them. It's a total joke.
See my story about them not coming out? When they wouldn't come out, I ended up calling them back and I said and I quote: "Well since you people wouldn't come out to fix my heating upstairs, I ended up fooling around with a bunch of things on my boiler, I turned a bunch of knobs, and now I have no heat on either floor. Get somebody out here NOW".
Granted I didn't kill my heat on my first floor, but this is what I have to tell these idiots when I need service. I would definitely NOT recommend Slomins for oil.

Re: Oil delivery question...
I had the same issue and then sent a letter to them to cancel my service.
If you are on automatic delivery, then you can not request them to come to your home, they just come when you are due. I am sure Oil Companies are getting the same request 100X a day because of prices now.
Mine was $2.89 and my contract was up in May, I was not due for a fill until July but I called in the beg. of May and asked them to come, they would not do it.
So F-them now, they lost a costumer!

Re: Oil delivery question...
These stories make me glad my $3.29 isn't up until January. Since i'll be getting monthly deliveries during that time, it shouldn't be difficult to get somebody here.
All these stories about them not topping people off just gives me more ammunition to drop them like a bad habit when my contract is up.

Honestly, the more I think about this if they pulled this with me I would have threatened to sue them in small claims for breach of THEIR contract.
Especially if your last fill was a while ago (at least three months ago).

I was very close to doing something, but I was tossing the idea around about converting to Gas and this just made my decision a lot easier.

Re: Oil delivery question...
I have Slomin's for oil too and DH and I are ready to say the exact same things - that they lost a customer. It took them a year a half to come and clean our boiler as maintenance stating that we weren't priority!
They may have cheap prices for oil compared to competitors, but I had a much better relationship with Petro when we were with them!

Re: Oil delivery question...
This is why we have Petro and have been very happy with them. Every time we call for service, they are there within an hour or two...
I have never called to mess with a delivery though, I am locked in through January and we are looking into converting to gas at that point.

Re: Oil delivery question...
I had Slomins for a year (the first year in the house) and we recently switched because I was not happy with them. They told us we should have gotten a delivery on March 20 and they waited to deliver until 4/3 when our contract was up so we paid an arm and a leg of course considering our contract was $2.59. Needless to say after many arguments we canceled our oil contract with Slomins.

Re: Oil delivery question...
I just called them the other day about the same thing. They told me my next delivery is in July they will fill you up on their schedule which is so frustrating but I think all non COD oil companies operate this way. I also asked if they could clean my burner since I have a maintenance contract and they asked why what was wrong with it? Hello I'm paying you to do this so I have to call back in a few months because they said they cannot do it now. Grr!!!

Tell them you think something is wrong, it's making a loud noise or something. Lie to them, it's the only way they will come and look at it.

Re: Oil delivery question...
After reading this I called Slomin's yesterday and requested that they fill me later than the end of this month. She said that was fine and would just put down that I would be calling in for a fill-up. She "warned" me that if I ran out of oil there would be an additional charge and that I have to give them 3-5 days notice that I need to be filled. Let's see if this actually works!
Also, I had a cleaning in January. When I scheduled the appt I just told them that it hadn't been cleaned in over a year and was due. There didn't seem to be an issue.
