Ok another cool mst humidifer question..
today i changed the filter and i noticed it was red and it had white cakey what stuff on it....what the heck is that?

When I change mine, it sometimes has orange stuff on it, which I read was mineral deposits from the tap water.

Yup it's mineral deposits....
Look online - there are ways - soaking in white vinegar solution to kill the mineral deposits. U have to soak the filter for a certain amount of time!
