OK BFing gurus- "Fast" nurser...
DD is just about 4 weeks old. She only nurses for 10-15 minutes when she's really hungry (if she's slept for 3 hrs).
When she's been up though, she'll show signs she's hungry (sucking hands, rooting) but will only nurse 5-10 minutes before unlatching and refusing to latch back on. Sometimes if I try 15 minutes later, she'll take more, but not consistently. Because of this, we have absolutely no schedule in regards to BFing. Sometimes she'll go 3 hours between feedings (usually she's sleeping), but when she's up, she'll sometimes want to nurse anywhere from 1 hour to every 2 hours.
She has the appropriate amount of wet/poopy diapers, so I'm assuming she's getting enough to eat.
I guess my question is- is this erratic feeding pattern normal at 4 weeks? Will she start eating more and going longer between feedings soon? Do *I* need to be more vigilant in order to get more of a schedule (I've been feeding on demand)?

Feeding on demand is what we have always done... What you are describing sounds about right for a Breast Feeding baby as they rarely have a schedule  You are doing great!

DD was a BFing "snacker", 5 minutes and she was done. Sometimes it lasted 3hrs sometimes only 60-90minutes. She eventually got herself into a pattern and started sleeping longer stretches at night on her own. I wouldn't worry yet she's still young.

As for us... we have no schedule. Bella eats when she's hungry. It's usually anywhere from 2-4 hours though.

Totally normal. I fed all of my kids on demand. My son is 10 months and he's still not on a schedule yet.

You are doing a great job taking DC's cues and responding to them. I fed on demand for months and months. Eventually DD got herself on a schedule. Just keep it up and enjoy the bonding time.
