Ok I"m trying CIO again tonight please help me not feel like a horrible mom - UPDATED!
We started at 10:20. DH was totally on board for this then wanted to cave 10 mins in. I didnt let him bc like you all said, he would have cried for nothing. I just need help and support that I'm doing the right thing here. I'm doing CIO bc he wants to sleep in our bed (which we only started a few days ago) so I know it wont be that hard to break. He's not hungry, he doesnt want a bottle or anything or be held for that matter. He has always put himself to sleep within 15 mins of fussing. This is completely new to me, getting hysterical like this. I know he's capable of it. Please give me support that I'm not getting from DH and my mom who both think I'm being terrible. As if I dont feel bad enough
UPDATE! He fell asleep at 11pm!!! It was only 40 mins! Hopefully tomorrow night will be shorter and we'll be done after 3 days

I did ferber, which is not quite the same, but what I did to make myself feel better was to read the book as I listened to her scream. It really helped because it continually reminded me that this was best for her and I was teaching her to sleep. SOmetimes parenting is hard but we have to do it!

Good luck
It's so hard. We tried it a few weeks ago and caved after 10 minutes. We'll try again soon when the trauma of the last attempt wears off

You can do this Carissa!! I did it with DD#1 and the first time she cried for an hour! I used the Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby book. Within 3 days she didn't cry at all, and now at 23 months, is an awesome sleeper! It is really hard when DH isn't on board. My DH was all for it and I showered while he listened to her hysterically crying. Just be strong! Good luck!

It will DEFINITELY be shorter tomorrow! I bet it will be less than 20 minutes, if that! Great job mama!!
