OK kind of freakin' out here: UPDATE
My parents left Sat. morning to go on their annual outing to a country music convention in Tennessee.
In any event, we talked a few times on Sat. and a few times on Sun. (They call at least 2x a day to speak with DS who they adore).
Anyways, they were supposed to be arriving in Nashville yesterday and neither my sister or I have heard from them and their cell is off.
We don't know what hotel they are staying at because they don't check into the main one until tomorrow where the convention is at.
I tried calling a few hotels yesterday of the places they may frequent and they are not registered at any of them.
Cell phone is still off this morning.
FIL, DH and my sister's BF feel that if something happened, one of us would've been contacted.
I don't know though.
When we were in touch on Sunday, they were in a part of TN that I believe is mountains and rural.
Maybe they don't have cell phone service but this is NOT like them at all to NOT call.
If they don't hear from me by 6PM each night they are calling my cell and house phone.
They also speak to my sister at least once a day too.

First of all, thank you everyone who responded with your concern. Very much appreciated!!!
Anyways, I cannot access this site at work, so I wasn't able to update.
We were finally able to get in touch with them around 9:00 this morning.
Apparently they decided to stay an extra night in one of the mountainous areas of TN and did not have a signal.
They also thought it was hilarious that I was trying to track them down in hotels like a wife trying to find her cheating husband.
Anyways, all is well and thank you so much again when I felt like a nut.

Re: OK kind of freakin' out here
Could they have forgotten their charger?
Sometimes when a cell phone roams (like in a mountain/rural area) it runs out of battery power quickly.
Can you leave a message for them at the hotel they will be at tomorrow?
Sorry, hope everything is ok.

OK kind of freakin' out here
That was a thought but I know they have one for the car for that reason. I am probably being a loon but this is really out of the ordinary for them not to call.
I just want to know when it gets to the point that I should call someone (i.e. police).
I looked at a bunch of news websites and don't see anything about accidents or anything.
They also have a number to their car that just rings.
They should have been in a major city yesterday so I know they would have a signal there.

Re: OK kind of freakin' out here
When I was in college my mom went to Germany to stay with a man none of us kids (my brother, sister or I) had ever met. She told us the name of her hotel but no other contact info, and she did not have a cell phone in Europe. My mom is the type who calls incessantly, and if she can't reach us keeps calling and calling and texting and flipping out. Well, needless to say, when none of us had heard from her 48 hours after she was supposed to have landed, we went nuts. She had never checked into her hotel, we simply couldn't find her. My uncle got involved, it was a big deal. I mean - an Interpol case file was opened. We even figured out her email password to find contact info for this guy, we googled him...it was major.
In the end, despite being the type of parent who is ALWAYS in touch, she had simply not thought to check in with us. She was fine (albeit we now think she's a bit crazy).
The moral of my crazy story is - I know how scary this type of thing can be, but I wouldn't worry too much...I'm sure you'll hear from them soon and I'm sure everything will be fine!

Hopefully they just got caught up in some things and didn't think to call. I would be freaking out too but I do pray that everything is ok.

Re: OK kind of freakin' out here
It really has only been ONE day so try not to get too upset. However, admittedly, i'd be concerned also. My mom is the same way, calls CONSTANTLY so I would be worried. There have been times when either of us have been busy and haven't called each other causing the other party to worry. We've even joked and said that maybe we shouldn't talk so much so as not to cause any panic when the other "disappears." lol With that being said, try to give it a bit more time. Maybe they are just enjoying themselves and will call today. Keep us posted.

Re: OK kind of freakin' out here
Can you go with "We were having such a good time, we forgot to call?"
Maybe call the hotel they will be staying at to see if they have a local phone number listed (ie another hotel)?

Re: OK kind of freakin' out here
I would be worried too.
I wouldn't get too too concerned until tomorrow. They are checking into the main hotel then, right?
I would call and leave a message with the front desk for them to call as soon as they get there. If you still haven't heard from them by tomorrow night- you could take more drastic measures.
I'm sure it's just something silly (like a lost phone or having so much fun they just can't stop line dancing to call ) and they are fine
ETA: I thought you spoke yesterday morning. I would start calling around tomorrow morning (local hospitals, other hotels in the area)- but still leave a msg for them at the main hotel.
Please update if you hear from them!

OK kind of freakin' out here
With my parents I wouldn't be concerned. They are totally flaky and it wouldn't be odd for them not to check in with us.
But your parents seem to be very different and I think I would be nervous. I agree with a PP who said to leave a message at the main hotel and start calling around tomorrow morning.

I would be worried too, but they are probably out of cell service and don't realize you'll worry.

Do they have onstar or anything like that?
I'm thinking yes since she said they have a number that dials to their car.
Hoping they are okay!

Perhaps you can call OnStar and they can locate the car...don't know if this is possible...just asking...

only if the car is reported stolen
I tried this once when someone borrowed my car for a a quick trip to CVS and didn't come home for 3 hours
all they could tell me were the air bags were deployed
but if the air bags deploy and they call the car with no response- they call the police
so honestly- if something did happen- you would probably have gotten a call
they could have lost the phone- I don't know my own dads number if that was to happen
