Ok ladies got a dilemma and need some advice
So i live in PA but work in NYC. My doctors office is in NYC and I will be having the baby out here in NY at NYU Hospital. I am going on maternity leave 3 weeks before my due date and wont be in NYC unless I say in Long Island 2 weeks before i give birth.
So here is the thing:
I can either stay with my MIL in Long Island for the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy which is what I did with DS, however my water wound up breaking in PA anyway ( i was on a small vaca with the hubby) and i didnt have contractions until the next day so all worked out ok. Or should I switch doctors to a doctor in NJ that is closer to me so that I wont have to stay in Long Island?
ETA: DH also works in NYC as well. so if i go into labor during the week he will have to rush to the hospital that I want to give birth at in New Jersey which is like 1 hour 15 minutes away and given that there is no traffic.

If you live in PA, why would you have to stay in LI? I'm a little confused by that. If it were me, I'd just tough it out and continue living in PA and when the time comes, I'll travel to NYC from PA.

If it were me, I would give birth to a hospital that is close to me unless I had a high risk pregnancy.
While second labors are usually shorter than first labors, I literally gave birth 7 minutes after I arrived at the hospital. You can labor at home while your DH gets home (if you have a neighbor that can help with ds).
Otherwise if you have no help, have the whole family stay at MILs, if possible.

U are probably right. Everyone is just worried that I might go into labor in PA and have to travel to NYC . But its really not that far its about 1 hour 45 minutes during the week and 1 hour 15 minutes on the weekend to get to NYC.

If you go into labor in PA you can always start heading to your doctor/hospital in NYC. If you think along the way that you are not going to make it, then pull over, call 911, and they will send an ambulance to take you to the nearest hospital to deliver.
