Ok Ladies... Let's fess up

To let the new mommies feel good let's post our "Bad Mommy" moments

BTW... have to add that WE all survived and I know the rules were much lighter back in the 70's and 80's. No carseat (I was on my mom's lap), seatbelts, crib I was in would not pass... I could probably stick my head through the bars Chat Icon

Anyway... here's some of mine.

* Drove home once and never tightened the belt. Sooo loose and I felt so bad
* turned my head when Mason was crawling around only to hear a crash and his Little People garage fell over on top of him Chat Icon Chat Icon
* cut his finger trying to cut his nail
* scratched him by mistake

I'll add more when I think of more Chat Icon

Re: Ok Ladies... Let's fess up

Had DD's paci on a thing that clips to her shirt and I clipped her-she screamed bloody murder, poor thing.

I've forgotten to tighten the car seat straps. It happened when I loosened them while I had DD in the snap and go. When I put the seat back in the car I forgot.

I moved DD's bed away from the wall to change her sheets and didn't move it all the way back. She got trapped between the wall and the bed (only an arm waving crazily indicated what had happened).

I am sure there are more, but these are the ones that spring to mind. I feel badly for DD, she's like my practice child. So many things I am much more careful about with DS because of what we learned with DDChat Icon

The one I can't get out of my mind... Turned my back to DS when I was preparing for Thanksgiving and he stood on a ball...fell...hit the brick wall and got a nice gash in his head. Still has the scar

Yea that is true. Whenever I think I cant do it anymore DS will either touch my face or smile at me, and then I start hugging him and kissing him and feel horrible for thinking that.

Re: Ok Ladies... Let's fess up

1) I cut Kaydyn's finger cutting her nails
2) I tripped and fell when holding Kaydyn and she banged her head on the floor
3) We've banged her head putting her in the car more times than I can count
4) She rolled off the bed twice when she was a baby
5) A couple of weeks ago we were leaving the house and I went to open the car door for her and she came running around and I smacked her right in the head with the door

I'm sure there are more but I can't think of any more right now.

Re: Ok Ladies... Let's fess up

let's see, I am sure there are tons

turned my back on miki for 1 second and she fell off her changing table

kj fell off the hospital bed at 2 days old Chat Icon (I guess 2 day olds CAN move enough to roll off a bed - who knew
Chat Icon )

We bought miki a baby slide when she was about 15-16 months old, dh was cleaning it with greased lightening. I walked away for a second (dh was still there cleaning it) and when I came back, miki had the spout of the cleaning bottle in her mouth (we brought her to the ER just to be sure that she had not ingested any - she was fine)

Just the other day miki burned two of her fingers helping me flip some grilled cheese sandwiches

I think the worst by far was when he was about 3 months old I was carrying him an I tripped and fell with him. He had a small scratch on his face from my hand covering his face, but it was the scariest day by far!!!

Re: Ok Ladies... Let's fess up

So funny you say this b/c yesterday when I got home from work with dd the top buckle(the plastic one that goes across) on the straps of her carseat was OPEN-the metal ones that go down were fine, but I swear she opened it herself in the car b/c all you have to do squeeze itChat Icon and she is not even 7 months old.

and many of the same as others-cut her finger when cutting her nails, scratched her...I put her down to sit yesterday and walked away and 2 seconds later she fell back and hit her head on the plastic toy...and I have begged God for help many times!

Oh and I forgot, I accidentally backed in to a pole with her in the car with me...I went to check on her and thought she was only crying b/c the sound scared her...well later on I noticed on one of her shoulders she had some mark..I didn't realize until a few days later the mark was where her carseat strap hits her shoulder and it must have dug into her skinChat Icon

locked her in the house when I went outside for a second. She had no clue and was completely calm. Me, I was a wreck-I cut the screen bc I was going to climb through the window and of course as I did that, dh pulls up.

I drove about 5 miles on 2 different parkways without him being strapped in his infant seat.

The other night I caught his pointer finger when I was moving he tray on his high chair. It's still pretty black and blue Chat Icon

Re: Ok Ladies... Let's fess up

hmm..

- i opened the door to DC room when DS was on the other side of the door and smacked him with the door and his poor toe got banged up and cut.

- drove without one of the clips to DD's carseat unbuckled

- let them play with plastic bags (with me watching) because it makes them happy

- I cut DS's finger with the nail clipper when he was tiny

- oh there are so many more

Re: Ok Ladies... Let's fess up

Cut his finger while clipping his nails, refuse to cut his nails ever since - this is DH's job.
Forgot to fasten DS in the car seat
Have hit DS head on his bedroom door because I never open the door wide enough for both of us to get in.
DS fell off the couch when I went to get the phone - luckily I have soft carpet.
