Ok, so things are not looking good
Today I got my HCG Beta numbers. While my pregesterone levels are great, my HCG level is at 22,057, but the ultrasound yesterday showed just the sac and the yolk sac. So, tomorrow I am going in for a second ultrasound. I would appreciate some prayers for a heartbeat that somehow was un-noticed yesterday. I think I have come to terms with this as much as humanly possible in that I will wait for 8 wks before I decide to do anything, unless mother nature decides to do that for me. There is little else for me to do. In the future I will not go to the doctor before I am AT LEAST 8 weeks (first ultrasound was done at approx 5 wks). This whole experience has been physically and emotionally draining. I am trying not to swear off pregnancy completely, and most importantly, trying not to close the chapter on this book until I feel it's appropriate to do so.

I saw the sac & yold at 5 weeks & 4 days at which time my hcg was 8,819. I didn't see a heartbeat until 6 weeks 2 days at which time my hcg was 28,332.
Is it just that you haven't seen a heartbeat yet? If so - you are definitely still in the game!

Basicly the Dr said that w/ anything above 8,000 we should see a heartbeat. So, yeah, it's basicly because the numbers are the way they are w/o HB. However, it's encouraging to hear that your numbers were over that w/o HB yet it still progressed.

Re: Ok, so things are not looking good
Hi, I got my bfp on 1/26, on 1/29 I went to the md, he said i was just about 5 weeks based on lmp(12/23)...I had a sono and there was nothing really to see-there was one tiny spot that he said could be the start of something(beta was in 900's) and told me to come back in 2 weeks. One week later I had some light brown spotting so they had me return and this time on sono there was a sac but nothing inside(beta this time was in 12,000's)-md wanted me to return in 2 weeks. That appt was cancelled on me. I finally went back on 2/23 where I should have been around 9 weeks. This time sono had a little baby and a heart flickering. Baby was measuring 8w3d. I have cycles averaging about 31 days so really for the first 2 appts I was only 4 and 5 weeks so it was way too early...
Do you have longer cycles? Don't count yourself out yet!!!
eta-did the md tell you to go back to recheck in a week or 2?

Just to give you a little hope....
I had some spotting around 5 1/2ish weeks so I went to the ER. They ran my levels and I had an HCG level of 27,199.2. They did an abdominal ultrasound that only showed a yolk sac - no fetal pole. I was told to go home and wait to miscarry. I quote, "With numbers THAT high we should see a heart beating." Two days later my HCG was 41,007 - but still just a yolk sac. Again, told to go home and wait to miscarry. 2 days later - there was the heart beart (measuring 6w5d)!!!
I'm 20 weeks today, went for my level II yesterday and my little one is healthy and kickin' away!
There is hope!!
I'm sorry you're going though this. I know how awful it is. I'll keep you my prayers.

Re: Ok, so things are not looking good
Thanks so much everyone
So here is what I've decided. Based on my instincts, on what I've read online regarding predictability of HCG levels, and the info I have gotten from this board, I've decided that I would like to wait until next wednesday, which is the day of my original appointment. Basicly, I feel that going tomorrow would be counterproductive since 1) I am doubtful that much would be different in the tests from Monday, and 2) I will just wind up in tears again. I want to give peanut some time since I know my body, and I know I ovulated late. I also know that none of my PG symptoms have gone away and I am not spotting or having any major cramping. I don't think 1 week will make a difference if the outcome is still not great, but at least if the outcome is good I will be further along and more likely to see something. I also know that going through stress when I may still have a chance is not good for the baby anyway. I need to give myself and peanut some time...on my terms. DH is fine w/ whatever I decide and we both agree that it would be too early for us to be okay with assuming that this pregnancy is not viable. If there is not HB, God forbid, by 8 weeks, then I will be nervous. To be this nervous at 6 weeks, to me, just does not make sense...and will lead to self-fulfilling prophecy IMO.
I may also consider changing doctor's too. I in no way doubt my current doc's ability at all, I just don't think it's a good fit.

Re: Ok, so things are not looking good
I will be hoping for you ...
Also I will agree that when in a situation like this you almost wish that you didn't have a sono until 8 weeks...I swear I will never have one before then again.
I also switched md's between my 2nd and 3rd appts(after they cancelled my 3rd appt on me-the one where i finally saw something was at a new office)...it was nothing against the md-he was actually great about everything not negative at all, it was really his office and the hospital i would have been delivering at...but long story short I am very happy I changed especially early on...i was thinking to do it after the 12wk appt originally.
Go with your instincts!
