Do you let them sleep (assuming its not night/bedtime) or do you take them out? Reasons for either?

I get torn sometimes. I never liked the idea of my kids being scrunched up - it cant' be good for posture or their shoulders yet at the same time, I don't like disrupting what is probably a well-needed nap.

leave him Chat Icon he is snuggly.

some Peds acutally recommend sleeping a newborn in a carseat if they have reflux issues or problems sleeping with a cold!

though this makes me recall a time a BRU when DS was about 4.5 months ...

i had him in his infant seat on the snap and go and an older italian woman came over to me and asked how old he was. she then scolded me Chat Icon for having him in the seat - telling me how bad it was for his back Chat Icon

maybe its an "old school" thing? how bad can it be (short term) for an infant whose bones are not fused or ossified?

I do both it really depends. I can usually tell if he will just nap a few min longer or a long nap. If i think he will go back down after taking him out ill put him in the swing

We always leave him, he usually does not nap in it for long though once we stop the car and are in the house.

It depends. If I have to go back out to get DS at school, I leave her in. Otherwise, I usually take her out. She always wakes up almost immediately anyway.

Same with ds he will nap a long time if he is in the car or
Moving stroller but not just in the car seat not moving. I can maybe get 10-20 min once at home

If he is in layers I would take him out. Too hot, too schrunchy

I take DD out, especially now b/c we have the bundle me and she's a sweaty baby. She usually stays sleeping anyway.

Depends You could drop an atom bomb and Sean wouldn't wake up, so I'd move him to his crib most of the time.

But if I knew I'd be disturbing him, I would have left him alone

Re: OK so you come home and your infant DC is sleeping in their car seat....

We're rarely in the car but when we did drive, we would leave him in. It was pretty much guaranteed that he'd wake up from his nap if we tried to move him.

Of course when he was a baby, we'd carry the infant seat out of the car while he continued to sleep.

Re: OK so you come home and your infant DC is sleeping in their car seat....

DH & I have had this disagreement more than once. All summer long if DD falls asleep on the way home from school I would sit in the driveway with her until she woke up on her own (and then he got pi$$ed off that she won't go to bed). Now, I take her out of her carseat and carry her in the house and put her on the couch and start dinner etc without being quiet. He comes home and wakes her up and she screams bloody murder for at least 45 minutes.

always, ALWAYS leave in....unbuckle if you can - if not - no biggie.

if he/she wasn't 100% comfortable, they wouldn't be soundly sleeping...

I would always leave them in but now that the Bundle Me's are in there, they get very warm very quickly so I've been taking them out.

I would 100% take them out! Children have died from sleeping in infant seats. If you google it you can find more info and articles on it but here is one:

Carseats not safe for sleep

Carseats are not beds. Not a risk I am willing to take just to keep baby asleep.

When my DD sleeps I leave her anywhere she falls asleep...a nap is a commodity these days and I don't want to wake her, ever, if she's sleeping peacefully!
