Ok.. super nervous..need advice (Work/baby related) --- oops long - sorry
Ok.. I don't know why but something crawled up my butt today.
My boss called to ask how to get my out of office turned on for my emails (i've been out for 2months hahaha ) and I offered to go online from home and take care of that for him.
I am currently on Maternity Bonding time, which means after my 8weeks C/S leave is up (which it is now) I get 4 weeks full paid by my office for "bonding".
He asked (my boss) how I was etc.. and I mentioned I had my laptop back that I had picked it up from our Melville offce (where I worked the last two weeks before AJ was born) and for some unknown reason I said...
"So I heard you decided to stay with us " (???) He was a little confused and I sorta said without saying that i knew he was job hunting before and I Had heard he turned in his notice but decided to stay. OMG what was I thinking??!!
He laughed and said yeah he decided to stay and I made it all into Im so glad, I can't imagine work without you.. blah
Then I went farther (hell why not at this point right?)
"You think you can put a good word in for me to work permnantly in Melville?"
I gave him my action plan (my work load, how the transfers would work, who I'd report to, chain of command back to him, etc) because I've been thinking of this for a long time.
He was
#1 Impressed #2 going to see what he can do
??? SERIOUSLY ???
He said "yeah, I think you offered a solution for all of us"
OMG OMG OMG
What did I just do?? Im nervous and excited all at the same time.
I told him to call me with anything he made need to make this work and offered to come back early if we can work this out. Since im only on maternity bonding leave and no longer on Disability Leave.
I sent him an email later thanking him again.
What else should I say or do to keep this in his mind and to sorta keep up on him with it (hes VERY lazy from time to time)????
I don't want to say something stupid again. He and I get along well (kinda like friends) which is why I said what I said about him quitting.
ETA: Im currently working in NYC and commuting from Huntington about 1 and a half each way. If this works out I'll be 15mins from home and 30mins from the daycare!

I would just follow up in a day or two - not today....and say it was nice speaking with him etc etc and how you are hoping that the position you and he spoke about - ie melville will work out as you think it would benefit both you and the company.,,,,,and thanks again for going to bat for you.
Good luck

Thanks..
Its nerve wracking with all the economic woes I feel I should be lucky to have a job at all (im in the Insurance Industry) and our company just bought another very comparable company and its a strain having all these new ppl since they dont want to fire anyone but you get the feeling you want to keep your head down, ya know?
AND we all know already no raises or bonuses for this year, which for me is horrible since I had to pass on a raise last year since I was too new (only 8 months with the company then).
