Okay, I have a question about really $$$$$$$$$ shoes.

I totally understand the handbag habit. You can protect your handbag, and it never even has to touch the ground if you are careful with it. They can last years upon years.

Now shoes, you walk outside with them. And sometimes the ground has gum, or it is rainy. Or just plain walking around provides wear and tear. What do you do for your $700 shoes? Do you baby them and only wear them inside or when you are mostly driving? Or do you just wear them to the ground and buy another pair when they are done?

I just can't get into expensive shoes because I always think they're going to get ruined before they are "paid off". KWIM?

Re: Okay, I have a question about really $$$$$$$$$ shoes.

I have a GUY friend who will check the weatehr before wearing anything expensive on his feet!

As for me, I won't even drive in any pair of shoes that have value to me, haven't taken the CL leap yet, kinda silly for me to do that in the current economy.....

I will change my shoes in the car when I arrive at my destination, and if it's raining or inclement, the shoes stay in the box....

i own 2 pairs of coach shoes... one of them being $100 sneakers and the other ones being $168 open toed heals.... i hate to say it, but i'm the same way - if its raining, i will not wear my coach sneakers.... granted, they werent anywhere near $700 - but they were still a lot more $$ than i ever spent on shoes!!

and with the sandels - obviousy i only wear them in the summer and they are dressy so i only wear them to events or on a dinner date or something... so those are still in VERY good shape

Re: Okay, I have a question about really $$$$$$$$$ shoes.

I had a friend who would wear her LV shoes everyday to work. They lasted such a long time, and there was nothing wrong with them. She didn't do anything different then her other shoes. Now for me, the more I take care of something the faster it gets ruined. I would rather not spend that amount of money on shoes, and spend it on a bag.

Re: Okay, I have a question about really $$$$$$$$$ shoes.

I don't wear my good shoes to walk across town through the city - I'd ruin both my feet AND my shoes. - I normally carry them and put them on at the office -

The only time my good shoes hit the outside pavement is if I wear them to a party or something like that -

I have a few $$$ shoes. I wear them pretty much in all weather except snow. I live in the city and walk everywhere. I've found the pricier the shoe the better they hold up in the long run.

As for CL's The bottoms do start to scuff but they can be fixed so I don't worryChat Icon

Re: Okay, I have a question about really $$$$$$$$$ shoes.

I sorta don't get it either. I have no shoes that come near $700. Most of them are $50-100, maybe $125. I'm also not a shoe person - my feet are always bothering me and I and am total clutz.

I will say I had a pair of Coach pumps that I got on sale for like $100 that lasted me around 3 years of almost daily use. They were so comfy and the quality was great. I think the original price was around $250

My latest shoe splurge was on a pair of suede Tory Burch Revas. Again, not near $700, but I find myself watching the weather report to make sure its not supposed to rain. Luckily, I had a $100 GC to Bloomies and got them during Friends & Family so I only paid around $70 for them. And by the way, I think they s uck. Not comfortable at all. I am so glad I didn't pay the $200...

My BF spends boat loads on shoes - $500 here, $700 there PLUS she is into bags too. I almost crapped when she bought her $3k Chanel bag and a pair of CL's the same day! Chat Icon

Me too! And I walk uneven and so the bottoms of my heels wear out at different rates so it is a slant. I know you can get heels fixed, but I still trash my shoes. Maybe it is because I walk 1 mile to and from work each day?Chat Icon Chat Icon

But I am totally a shoe person, and a great pair of shoes just makes me feel SO good - whether I'm in a size 6 or a size 12 -

Re: Okay, I have a question about really $$$$$$$$$ shoes.

walking around in ANY 4 inch heel long enough to damage them is not really possible.

my most FAB shoes are in better condition than my every day ones b/c I don't wear them as much.

If I spend $700 on a pair of shoes, they'd get more TLC than my dh does!

besides...they'd see more of my bedroom than they ever would of the pavement if I bought the right ones Chat Icon Chat Icon CL...i will find you...no matter how far...I will find you Chat Icon Chat Icon

Okay, so $$$$$$ shoes are really more of an accessory than functional, right?

Re: Okay, I have a question about really $$$$$$$$$ shoes.

I have a couple (maybe four pairs) of shoes that I spent over $500 on, and I'm careful with them.

I do however keep up with the maintenance of them, and with a VERY TRUSTED shoe-repair shop.

With my CL's (thanks to GossipQueen) - I only take them to the repair shop in the city, recm'd by CL. they'll re-sole them and fix the heel tips when I've worn them down, and repair whatever needs it.

Not really - it depends on the designer.

The more expensive shoes that I've purchased, I wear more often, and they last longer.

I've said this before. I can't justify spending more than $100-150 max on shoes(for many reasons)
Now, handbags?! That's a different thread,LOL.

I wear my CLs to special events only and events where I am not walking a lot...lol. I wore them last night to DH's holiday party and I've worn them to weddings, but they are just not comfortable enough to wear if I'm walking around.

Re: Okay, I have a question about really $$$$$$$$$ shoes.

I check the weather and only wear them when I will be indoors. I don't have that many pairs, but the ones I have are for special occasions.
