Okay, seriously...... (x post from parenting)
If you've had a baby, can you please explain the progression of contractions? Here's my dilemma.....
I have had BH since about week 26. They make me giggle. I am now in week 37. But last night I was woken up by horrible cramps. I seriously wanted pain medication. (And I rarely take pain medication, even after my two surgeries.) It subsided within the hour. Today I've had more and now they are more frequent. They last about 2 minutes. My back is killing me and I feel like I have to poop, even though I've been very regular and have no poop in me right now.
Could you please explain your contractions? I feel like I'm back TTCing, analyzing every symptom. TIA!!!!!!!

Are they regular? If you change positions does the pain remain the same? Are they getting more intense, or is one painful and the next one isn't?
When I started labor they were every 5 minutes for about 1 minute on the dot. They got more and more intense with each one, and no matter what I did they still hurt.

KELLY! did you call the dr? back pain can be contractions... i was thinking something was up with you today. You may b e having contractions without your water breaking. Also, a feeling of pooping is a sign. are you spotting at all? if you have lower back pain i would say contractions. I really hope you called the dr.s office

Nope, I didn't call the doctor. They do not go away when I shift positions. I had them every 8 minutes for about an hour, then they stopped. I thought I'd call if they closer together. I might call the doctor in the morning. No water breaking yet! Maybe he's just torturing me for the last few weeks because I had a pretty good pregnancy.

Needing to poop is a sign of labor. Its your body's way of cleaning itself out for the delivery. Sounds to me like something is happening Kelly
I would try to relax, save your energy for the delivery. If you have not packed your bag yet, DO IT, and drink a LOT of water. Keep hydrated (especially in this heat). Most of all though, is to rest. Do nothing but lie around and relax.

These are all the signs of starting labor, how quickly it progresses is anyone's guess . I have felt this way for TWO weeks now and have had it. Every other day I say "this is it, I'm going in". As pp's said, its a matter of how consistent they are and if they are increasingly intense. My dr. said to go to the hospital if they are 5 minutes apart.

I called the doctor. SInce they no longer have a pattern of contractions, I am now in a holding pattern. Well, we know it'll happen eventually.
