don't worry about it.... I didn't know what those things were in my first tri either....
first, there's the ultrascreen (sono)... you're getting that likely next week. It estimates the probability of downs, and trisomy 18....
then (roughly 16 weeks), there's an AFP test or triple screen that estimates the probability of trisomy or spina bifida
at 20 weeks, there's the level II... which is another sono. They measure many body parts to make sure the brain, organs, and limbs are developing normally. they also examine the placenta. This test is usually when you find out or .
Later on (I don't know when yet! I think it's in week 20-something) you go to the outpatient lab and get your glucose test done... this tests for gestational diabetes. you have to fast the night before. they make you drink a horrible sugary drink and take your blood a couple times (you have to wait an hour). if you 'fail' that test (your blood sugar levels are off), you have to repeat it with a 3 hour long test. If you fail the 3hour, you likely have gestational diabetes and you will have to monitor your blood sugar levels until your is delivered.....

Just to add to this, your doctor may not do the ultrascreen at 12 weeks, mine did not

Re: OK...Im going to ask a stupid question
The tests described above are all correct. However, there will be some variances at your practice as to what they do and where/when.
I didn't have the ultrascreen either, it was optional at my practice.
And my glucose test was at my doctor's office during one of my appts - I drank the drink while I waited for the OB and then had my blood drawn after the appt. I was 28 weeks.
