I think it's awful to kill a snake and I'm sad to hear that they killed it.

You can always have someone catch & release it, which is what I hope you or anyone else does next time.

It could have been someone's pet and it got into your home, too.......

I totally agree! I think its horrible

Honestly, if I walk into my living room and see something slithering on my wall, I'm not going to stop to think about what to do next. I'm going to kill it. Yes I feel bad for the snake but I'd feel worse if I had to worry that it was in my house and could possibly hurt my child.

ETA: I'm not heartless and will hit the brakes hard if i see a bird or squirrel in my way, but a snake in my house, the rules change.

OMG i would have dropped a freakin' bomb on it if that's what it took to get rid of it. HELLLLL NO am i trying to catch and release it. EFFF that. Don't explain yourself. The last thing i care about is the well being of a snake that somehow found it's way into my house... especially when i have a 14 month old running around that same house. Chat Icon

Do not apologize. I don't know many people who would catch the snake and release it. I would have someone kill it too (I would be too busy screaming to do it.)

No need to explain yourself, you did what you thought was best for you and your family. Honestly I have a hard time killing bugs but if I were in your situation I probably would have done the same. Chat Icon

Plus, it sounds like a garden snake or garter snake (cant remember what exactly they are really called) so I wouldnt worry about it being someone's beloved pet. My grandma had a brown snake around her house (it didnt come inside that I can remember hearing about). She used to live on the Massapequa/Amityville border.

Re: OMG Snake- in my HOUSE!!!!! Help!!!!!

You can buy snake repellent. We had a gazillion snakes outside spring 2009. Then, that may one got in the house Chat Icon My DH was at work so BIL came over and also killed it (we were already going nuts about the ones outside, I was not about to save the one INside!).

We also took out bushes from the front of the house, is there anywhere they could be getting comfortable outside? My DH out some kind of snake repellent down and *knock on wood* no other ones have made their way in! We also got a cat lol

Good Luck

Oh god I wish I didnt read this Chat Icon I HATE snakes. I can't even look at them on a TV show. I am terrified of them. If I saw a snake near my house I would probably pass out Chat Icon
