well- I just put a fraud alert on my credit- just in case they stole a cc application
Jake is running my credit to double check
but it doesn't look like any new accounts were opened
the banking thing is annoying- I am going to have to change about 10 automatic payments
but first I need a PO box- b/c my bank refuses to send my new account number anywhere BUT my house 
which defeats the purpose- since I think someone is stealing my mail!
Just a suggestion...why dont you set it up to pick up your mail at the post office until this is sorted out...it's a PITA I know but at least noone will steal your mail...

Just a suggestion...why dont you set it up to pick up your mail at the post office until this is sorted out...it's a PITA I know but at least noone will steal your mail...
I am actually going to do that
I am expecting 2 more checks for my car
(bad month- a school bus hit my car)
so my plan is....
Hold the mail
look into getting a locking mail box or a PO box
police report, notary on the fraud affidavit (good thing Grandma is a notary)
I am lucky that the post office is 2 blocks from my house- and it's the summer- so I can walk!

Do you live in an apt bldg? It seems someone is certainly swiping your mail. You have to def place fraud alerts, as well as a few other things!

alert the post office. theft of mail is a federal crime. they can start an investigation. sorry this happened. hope they catch the b@stards.

Strange that they would cash it someplace and use their account#.
I wonder if was delivered to the wrong address, like an office and they deposited it in error.
it couldn't have been an error- the forged MY Name
and it kind of looks like an atempt to copy my signature- which is why I am freaked out

it was bad- if could have been ALOT worse
thank goodness this theif is either new at this or really dumb
I am not sure if the police will do anything
but I know the insurace company will- it's there money that was stolen- and they wont let it go
as soon as I get the PO Box- I can get an new checking account number

OMG this is INSANE !!!!!  
as if you have nothing better to do with your time
Is there a way they can check the cameras at the bank ?
what a nightmare. Id slip a note in the mailbox cursing them out 
no I wouldnt, God forbid they start making it a spiteful game.

We never use our outside mailbox for this reason. i always drop off our bills to the post office or a post office mailbox.

it wasn't a check I sent
it was sent to me
someone had to come inside my lobby and go thru my mail and take it
ETA- it's not like I get checks in the mail every day- it's actually pretty rare
I get work expense checks, and checks for this car accident
I got 1 for $9K and 1 for $2K not a problem
they stole the smallest 1
it's creepy
but it could happen to anyone that gets mail delivered to their house
went I send a check - 1 or twice a month- it goes in a blue mail box on the corner
