OMG....just got a +HPT....need your opinions!!
So my period was due today/tomorrow so I decided to test and just got a "pregnant" on an EPT test. Only symptom I have is that my boobs are sore and they feel heavy.
This is the first baby for me and DH. He doesn't know yet ... he is on his way home from the airport. I work nights so I will only see him for about an hour before I leave. I am dying to tell him. My birthday is this Sunday so I was going to wrap a present to "show him what I got."
The thing I am struggling with is that I have to tell work right by nature of what I do. I'm kind of upset about it because I am 35 and worried about something happening. What would you do? Should I make excuses at work...which is kind of hard?
Also.... my OB appt is not until 11/24. A +EPT is a positive, right?

do you have to tell them right away? i wouldnt think that would be fair to you.. since you haven't even told your family.. or had your first appt yet.
can you wait until then?

congrats!! i think it's okay to wait until after Sunday to tell work unless you work with seriously dangerous chemicals or something like that. lots of women don't find out they are PG until a few days after they miss AF, so theoretically, you could not have found out till Monday!
otherwise i think it's fine to tell work first and then DH on Sunday. he doesn't need to know you told them  and i would tell as few people at your job as possible.

First off, congrats. Second, by law, you do not have to tell them anything. I would not until after you get b/w and a sono to confirm.
ETA-what do you do exactly? Is it something dangerous? If so, get a blood test ASAP.

If I were you I would wait till te Dr confirmed, maybe you can go this week and just get a blood test to confirm it. I'm sure if you explain your situation to the Dr they'll totally understand.

CONGRATULATIONS!Yes, a positive is a positive!!
I agree with the above - unless you work with dangerous chemicals, xrays, or fumes, (or anything else dangerous to the pregnancy) then you can wait to tell them. If you fall into one of those categories, you really only have to let your HR department know, and if you don't have one, then let your boss know. And of course, tell them it's a private matter and you would not have shared so early except for the nature of your job.

I know that some jobs require you tell them right away - for your own safety. My friend has this at his job (NYPD). Is that the issue??
I would call the doctor and see if you can go in earlier? Is there anyway you can just tell your supervisor?

I work in the medical field and there are pts I would not be able to take care of b/c it would be a threat to the baby. So, I really have to tell. I can sort of make an excuse and change my assignment but I think it may be obvious. It just stinks because, if not for my job, I would rather wait 12 weeks.

oh ok now I understand if you an just speak to your head supervisor you don't have to tell everyone and please ask if this can stay btn you 2 until you have your first appt and feel ready to tell people.

Congrats! We sound the same....I found out Wednesday from a home test. I wasn't due for AF until yesterday so I was shocked that I saw one word: PREGNANT! Then, a blood test confirmed it yesterday.
Don't tell work just yet unless you feel you have to...but I do understand where you are coming from. Maybe you can confide to your boss, and ask that it just remain btwn the two of you until you feel ready to share.
I love your idea for telling DH. I couldn't wait! I called him at work! ha ha.
