my neighbor across the street- his brother worked for cantor fitzgerald and passed away too.  i feel so bad for him and his family- they were so close.

My cousin Deanna worked for Cantor Fitzgerald. She was 8 months pregnant with her first baby - a boy to be named Matthew
My other cousin William - he also worked for Cantor Fitzgerald. He was married with 2 little girls

i didn't loose anyone i knew, but my FIL is a pilot for United who often flew united flight 93 out of newark back then (he knew the pilot and copilot on the flight) i remember listening to the radio and hearing that it was a united flight, and just worrying so much that it was him flying it. thankfully, he had switched his schedule....

I remember...Being at work here on LI and the phone ringing in my classroom. With that another teacher came RUNNING in to tell us the news..total chaos, but, we managed. (I was a day care teacher, taking care of infants. So hard to focus, but we all pulled through).
The phones did not stop ringing. I remember giving my mom a list of names and numbers to contact relatives and friends of those I knew were in the area that day.
Our best friend was running late that day (THANK GOODNESS), got off the subway, didn't know why everyone was running..thought they were filming a movie or something..He froze..He then ran. I will never forget his shaken voice on our answering machine

...being 4 months pregnant with our first child and fearing my beloved husband had died.
...all the people my DH saw return up the stairs in Tower 2 when announcements were made to return to their offices.

I will never forget that morning, the feeling of panic and helplessness.
All those innocent people who lost their lives.
Taking the train up to CT to my mom's and along the way seeing all the dr & nurses & cops at every stop - waiting & hoping for survivors to help.
Thinking that they were going to find all these people alive under the rubble.

I remember this all to well. To this day the hardest moment for me is remembering the split second that my mom said HELLO so hopelessly on the phone when I finally was able to call her from a payphone after noon.... and the hysterical cries and screams on the other end of the line when she realized that I was ok. I still can't talk about this without crying- and neither can she.
I couldn't find a payphone in downtown Manhattan and had to wait until I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge and well into Brooklyn before I found a phone with under 10 people in line to use it... and they say cell phones are for emergencies... mine didnt' work...

Mark was my supervisor and the sweetest man.
I remember waking up that day and watching the first plane hit. My shift didn't start until 12pm and Mark was already at work and didn't think twice about going down to the site. He took my ambulance that day.....I never saw him or my bus again. My heart goes out to his family......
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who lost someone that day and to all the men and women who risk there lives fighting for us each day.
