Jessica Simpson on the other hand... always sounds fake when she is supposedly "live" (has she ever been?)or any performance she does for that matter... and that would help explain her way over exagerated mouth movements when singing... and her 2nd album did way better than her first... and her songs are definitely shopped for...
I guess Jessica Simpson. Very good points... I wonder who it is?

Re: One of the Most Interesting Blind Items I've Read...
I had to ponder this for a while!!!!
I'm thinking Faith Hill.
Jessica Simpson is also up there.
Hillary Duff is another good one - but I don't think anyone would be "floored", she's not that big of a star, IMO.
I don't think it could be Beyonce, because then you need every member (past & present) of Destiny's Child to keep their mouths shut also.

Re: One of the Most Interesting Blind Items I've Read...
hillary duff isn't a big enough star
pink wasn't everywhere, and is not quite a looker herself
britney doesn't even sound good on the the cd; plus she's working on another one now
jessica has a big breathy voice that sounds like her speaking voice.. and we've seen her in the recording studio
i think the best guess so far is J Lo, but her songs sound very much like her speaking voice too.. think of "if you had my love"- that's definitely her
i also think toni braxton is a good guess because she seems like a real b*tch and her singing voice is so manly
i'm stumped!!

I say J.Lo....she is a crappy singer, and she seems like the kind of Beotch who would be rude to someone b/c of what they look like.

Re: One of the Most Interesting Blind Items I've Read...
My first instinct was Mandy Moore and I def think it is her - there are some really strange bits of info on her - she has publlicly criticized her first couple of albums - she released her first album (in 1999) - it did ok then she went back into the studio to "rework it"
from wikipedia: Moore released I Wanna Be with You, a re-worked version of her debut album, in May 2000.[15] The album, which was mostly completed with synthesizers, bass, guitar, and drums,[16] comprised new songs alongside tracks and remixes from So Real. Several reviewers criticized it on the basis that it was a remix album and not a true followup
She did a lot in the beginning - touring, commercials, hosting, etc. she had several albums and critics said her voice sounded stronger

I don't think it's Pink, Christina or Britney because there has been footage of them all singing when they were tiny little kids.
I guess it could be J Lo - I think it is strange that her career is all over the place - I think she's a better actress than singer, but not amazing at either...

Interesting. It cant be Mariah-she's had like 13 albums. It has to be someone who only has a few. J Lo is definitely possible. I've heard a few different rumors that she doesn't really sing on her albums. I do think her singing and speaking voice are siimilar though. I could believe Jessica Simpson too.

Re: One of the Most Interesting Blind Items I've Read...
I just read a book about this! A male singer- who is from a spanish/ PR background- didn't speak spanish- had 2 albums that were a hit & then married & did a duet w/ a spanish/english speaking singer who. In the book -they did a duet live and bombed b/c he couldn't sing. Someone else had always recorded his songs but this " famous singer" got the credit and fame b/c of the way he looked. TOTALLY reminded me of a male J.Lo- and the duet thing was the whole J & Marc fiasco! Sooo I beleive it is her too!

Re: One of the Most Interesting Blind Items I've Read...
definitely NOT jessica simpson - ive heard her sing live in a small theater in NYC - it was definitely her singing! she does have a great voice.
It could be Mandy Moore or Hillary Duff or J.Lo- I dont think its mariah bc she did lots of records before 2000.
eta: and if you watch the Behind the music - Britney, Christina & Jessica - they all show them singing as children - I dont think its any of them.

Re: One of the Most Interesting Blind Items I've Read...
Singers who have been caught lip-synching Some information in this article or section has not been verified and may not be reliable. Please check for any inaccuracies, and modify and cite sources as needed. The list below does not include lip-synching in music videos, as almost every music video is lip-synched. Only the performances when the singer is expected by the audience to sing live, like concerts, or TV shows, are listed. NOTE: On shows like the UK's Top of the Pops and other European talk shows and lottery shows, artists lipsynch more often then sing live, even artists who normally sing live.
ABBA lip synched in their movie album. Anastacia, in a performance on Top of the Pops in the UK.
Ashlee Simpson, in the internationally infamous performance on Saturday Night Live in 2004 when her backing track malfunctioned.
Atomic Kitten, after they release their single "Ladies Night" which is the 2003 version of Kool and The Gang's 1979 hit "Ladies Night", they performed the song everywhere including Top of the Pops, CD:UK, The Oudejaarsloterij Show and Children's TV Marathon on BBC. On the Children's TV Marathon performance they sang live for just 6 seconds. They even lip-synched on their Greatest Hits Tour.
Beyonce has lip synced at two award shows.
Celine Dion, who rarely lip syncs, tends to always lip sync on her song "That's The Way It Is".
Christina Aguilera, a performance of "Get Mine, Get Yours" during a promotional performance for her album "Stripped". She also lip synched while performing "Christmas Time" on her 2000 ABC Channel Christmas Special (released as "My Reflection" DVD). Recently, when debuting her single Ain't No Other Man on the 2006 MTV Movie Awards, lip synched the high note after the first chorus.
Dannii Minogue, at Top of the Pops in the UK.
Eminem, during a performance of his song "Mosh" on Mad TV he did it during the chorus.
Enrique Iglesias, during several concerts in Poland.
Fergie (Stacy Ferguson) during the Video Music Awards pre-show, Teen Choice Awards 2006 and Fashion Rocks 2006 she lip-synched the chorus part of "London Bridge". She has also lip-synched the chorus part of "London Bridge" on two different episodes of TRL.
Geri Halliwell, Performing "It's Raining Men" at the National Lottery 2001, another performer who has never sung live.
Hilary Duff performing "Come Clean" at MTV's New Year's Bash 2004 and "Beat Of My Heart" at the American Music Awards in 2005. Another artist who has rarely performed live.
Janet Jackson, tends to dance while performing, and has lip synced in the past.
Jennifer Lopez, at Wetten Dass during the performance of her single "Get Right" in promotion of her album, Rebirth, and "Ain't It Funny" several times on promotion. Lopez rarely sings live, preferring to lip synch.
Jentina during two performances of "Bad *** Strippa".
Jessica Simpson, during her Irresistible album era. She lip-synched a TRL performance and many performances overseas. The lip-sych of her song Irresistible was obvious when she sang live on another MTV performance a couple months later and she dramatically sounded different than when she sang or didn't sing on TRL. Simpson, however, does perform live often.
Kelly Osbourne, at Top of the Pops and various other television shows while promoting her album Sleeping In The Nothing.
Kylie Minogue, at few TV-shows, where other artists normally also don't perform live. Although TV miming, Kylie always performs live during her own shows (as she declares herself proud of it on her "Feel The Fever" documentary, released as an extra to "KylieFever 2002" DVD).
Lara McAllen, singer of Angel City, performing "Sunrise" on CD:UK. Lindsay Lohan, while performing on Good Morning America During "Rumors", Lindsay's microphone was nowhere near her mouth during the first line of the bridge and she made a face realizing she messed up. Her reps insisted she sung live.
Luciano Pavarotti in a famous outdoor opera concert in Italy in the 1990s. Mariah Carey, lip synchs sometimes on television performances, often lip-synchs the last part of We Belong Together. Michael Jackson, during MTV Video Music Award 1995 performing a medley and the song "Dangerous". Jackson occasionally lipsynchs, especially during his last tour, but has mostly sung live throughout his entire career.
Milli Vanilli, during a live performance recorded by MTV at the Lake Compounce theme park in Connecticut in 1990. It was later revealed they did not sing vocals on their album. Court rulings later stated that purchasers of their album be given a partial refund from their record company.
Missy Elliott, during a performance of "Lady Marmalade" at the 2002 Grammy Awards.
Raven-Symoné at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 2004. Sarah Connor on several TV appearances including TRL Germany, her appearances at The Dome, and many others. There was one playbacked performance of her 2003 hit "Just One Last Dance" at the Comet Awards where her mouth was away from the mic when she was still "singing". She also lipsynched "I Just Started Being Bad" on a TV-Total event and it was evident when her mouth wasn't moving during a part of the song and when her microphone was away from her mouth.
The Pussycat Dolls, while performing their hit "Buttons" on T4 (Channel 4) and CD:USA. Lead singer Nicole sang live, but the rest of the group were lip-synching the song.
The Spice Girls, during an appearance on Noel's House Party (BBC-UK) where Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) failed to open her mouth during some of her lines.
Victoria Beckham, during her performance at World Idol, an Idol spinoff show.

Re: One of the Most Interesting Blind Items I've Read...
Can't be Mariah (she started in the late 80's and hit success in 91, plus, she came from obscurity, so I think that if anything was the case, she would be the back up singer whose voice was being used.)
I think that in order for this to "blow Mili Vanilli out of the water", it has to be someone of J.Lo's status.
She might be early, but Sheryl Crow?

I agree - it's definitely not Mariah. That girl can sing. She cut a demo when she was in high school of her singing hip-hop - the tape was passed around my high schoool. She was also a back-up singer for Brenda K Starr.
Sheryl Crow would blow me away -but she sings with so many other artists I don't think it's her. She was Clapton, the Stones, etc. You can't pull off something with that many people playing live.

Re: One of the Most Interesting Blind Items I've Read...
you know Kelly Osborne is not a bad guess either-- she was everywhere-- and it would be pretty bad if the daughter of a rock legend was a part of this--- since her mother is obviously her manager, and she is Ozzy's. They prob figured they could capitalize on the success of the MTV show and laugh all the way to the bank.

Re: One of the Most Interesting Blind Items I've Read... *UPDATE*
so has to be jennifer lopez. christina milian has written and backed a lot of her songs anyway. and if you ever listen to a jlo song, its mostly not her. you can TELL when it is her, and the chorus is usually layers of vocals, def has to be christina milian. just listen to one of her songs.
i actually like jen lopez, but she cannot sing!
