One or two night trip ideas?
I realized the summer is flying by. Before I know it I'll be sending the boys to school.
Since the boys only have a couple more weeks left of camp I wanted to do a one or two night trip away that's about 1 - 3 hours to drive to. We live in Central NJ. Doesn't have to be a beach or pool since we just redid our backyard and put a lot into our pool, but still open to anything fun and different. My boys are 6 and 4.
Any ideas for early to mid August? Haven't even brought this up to DH yet so figured I'd get ideas first then mention it to him. Thanks!

Thanks. Maybe look into Cape May. I do want to do Diggerland too. Was thinking September when it's a bit cooler out (and for DH's bday since he's a contractor). We've done Sesame and Bronx Zoo. Looking more to stay in a hotel for a night or two.

One or two night trip ideas?
We LOVE to go up to Saratoga Springs. At that time, it will be racing season, and the race track is so much fun, it's really nice and they have a lot going on there. There's also Lake George about 30 minutes farther North, but besides that, it's just really relaxing there, lots of really good restaurants, museums (car museum, racing museum), couple of parks. We go at least once a summer (we just went for 4th of July and will hopefully be back up there Labor Day weekend).

We did all of it as a hotel stay -- we stayed in a hotel in philly and did please touch and walked around philly, then we went down to cape may and did the beach, pirate cruise, cape may zoo, etc, then we drove back to cocokey and stayed there for 2 nights and did the indoor water park and did stuff in that area (aquarium and diggerland) and went for hibachi and drove home. last weekend we stayed in a hotel near sesame and did that. hotel ML/cocokey was a fun place to stay because our package included passes to the waterpark in the hotel and there is also a lot to do in the surrounding area if you don't want to spend all of your time at the water park. we did a few hours each day at the water park and then did other things

Re: One or two night trip ideas?
We just stayed 2 nights in ocean city, MD at the Francis Scott Key family resort. It was cute for kids and the pool areas are all redone... The rooms are more like beachy motels so don't expect five star hotel room lol ... It took us 4 hours but we r on LI.
