Open floor plan decorating question?????
So, we have an open plan in one part of our house. The kitchen/dinette and living room are all in one big area. We have a chair rail up and painted it an antique white and have a lighter shade of a gold/yellow on tope and a darker gold on the bottom. Our new couches are cognac colored and the furniture is a not-too dark mahogany with black wood and one piece is black glass.
So, next up will be the kitchen area. I was thinking about doing an antique white cabinet with a dark dark green granite (our other kitchen has maple cabinets and a brownish granite, so I wanted a totally different look).
Any-who, I was thinking that the lighter cabinets in the kitchen area will look funny now that I went with darker furniture for the living room.
What do you think? Suggestions? Pictures?
Thanks!!!!!!

Re: Open floor plan decorating question?????
I don't think it would look bad at all. It's two different rooms - even if it is an open floor plan.

Re: Open floor plan decorating question?????
I actually think it would look gorgeous! With the Gold, Cognac, Mahogany/black and then the Antique White with the Dark Green....it all goes together. The dark green color from the kitchen would be your dark piece to pull all the other dark pieces together from the other rooms. Hope that makes sense. And you could always bring some of the other colors from the DR & LR into the kitchen as accent pieces to tie the rooms together, but you are still giving each separate area it's own definition. I hope all of that made sense.
I have the same open floor plan in my house and this is what I did to tie all the three spaces together. GL!

That's what I was thinking at first and then when I saw how the furniture looks I was double guessing myself...thanks!

Thanks! No problem. Sometimes you just need someone else to bounce an idea off of. If you have any other questions just FM me. Have fun. Can't wait to see your rooms when everything is done. Sounds like it going to be gorgeous!
