IMO- It's a privilige because in many countries women have to have arranged marriages. It's also a right because it's something that is given to us for our free will. In this country at least.

its both its a right because we can
its a priviledge becasue of the tax benefits
good point
Very good point.
You get a tax break for children too and a mortgage...
owning a home and having children is both a priviledge and a right too- but the question was about marriage
I know but take away the emotional aspect. If anyone (without physical problems but you know what I mean) can have a child, does that make it a privledge?
yes......i think its a God given priveledge...and its also a priveledge to afford to take care of the child in the proper way..and being old enough to keep the baby (as opposed to giving up for adoption)....then we can go into adoption ..its a priveledge to be able to adopt...the costs, the income needed to support a child...etc.
There are some people that don't believe in God so for them it may not be considered God given and one of the beauties of this country is the separation of church and state. The definition of privledge is "A special advantage, immunity, permission, right, or benefit granted to or enjoyed by an individual, class, or caste. Such an advantage, immunity, or right held as a prerogative of status or rank, and exercised to the exclusion or detriment of others. " Therefore to me, if all people can do it, it is a right.
Not all people can do it, which is what makes it a privilege.
