Opinions on paint quote

Our house is almost finished be built. The builder includes Linen White, and any other colors are extra. We were quoted for the following

MBR
2nd BR
Kitchen
Dining room
Sitting room
Foyer and stairway and hallway

All listed are different colors

Price 2k

Not familiar with paint upgrades so I was just wondering your thoughts

I have no idea, but you can probably save $1500 by doing it yourself. I'm guessing paint for all those rooms plus brushes and rollers would be about $500.

Have you considered doing any of those rooms yourself?

This is what I am hearing.....
Jess, in response to what you said, we have not considered bc we are TERRIBLE painters, and we also have cathedral ceilings which would make things so complicated!

Re: Opinions on paint quote

Ok we just had painting done.

We got 3 quotes:
We had painted:
master bath
dining room
formal living room
2 story foyer
hallway that runs across whole down stairs ajacent from foyer.

1st est. was 3300
2nd est was 2850
3rd was 1500

Of course we went with 1500 and ended up having to repaint everything ourselves and spent days removing paint the painters got on the carpet and wood floors. SO make sure you check references.
The est you got seems very reasonable.

Good luck

Re: Opinions on paint quote

We just recently got a quote of 2600 including paint for about 5 rooms so I think your quote is excellent

Re: Opinions on paint quote

To me, personally, paintint is so easy to do that I wouldn't hire anyone to do it unless it's something difficult. That being said, I agree that you can save 1500 bucks by doing it yourself! But if you don't care about the money and you don't want to do it yourself, then go ahead and pay for it!

Re: Opinions on paint quote

I think that's a great price. When we moved into our house 3 yrs ago we had 4 rooms painted for $1100. Our rooms weren't huge - ranged from 10x11 to 14x14.

ETA: It was so nice to have professionals paint the rooms in 2 days, especially when doing more then one in the same timeframe. It was probably the best money spent when we moved in. We are going to change the color in our BR and even bought all the supplies. And for some reason I'm just dreading it. I've painted before, but I think it can be a hassle especially with 2 kids. So I'm really thinking about paying someone to do it for us.
