Opinions wanted on whether now is a good time to wean from the paci
Thomas is 18 months. He is VERY dependent on the paci (his noonie) to sleep. When I check on him, and in the morning, it is ALWAYS in his mouth. He also uses it in the car. He also used it during the day until the last couple of months we have been phasing it out during the day.
He just moved to the Toddler Room at daycare and pacis are not allowed. For the past week, he has slept in a cot without a paci!!! I don't know how they get him to fall asleep without it, but they do.
Problem is, when I pick him up, practically as soon as he sees me, he starts begging me for his noonie. My heart breaks!
We've been throwing them in his crib in the morning after we get dressed and then we clap hands and cheer and say see you later noonie trying to get him to associate them only with bed and naptime at home.
Since he's sleeping without it at daycare, should I try to wean him from it at night too? I feel like it's his only comfort after a long day, should I deprive him of that?
I would love any advice anyone can give me!
Thanks!

Re: Opinions wanted on whether now is a good time to wean from the paci
Emma loved hers, slept with it at nap and bedtime, used it in the car, not so much during the day. A couple of weeks ago we lost the last one we had so I just stopped giving it to her. She fussed a bit the first night but has been fine without it! She's 18 months also. I was honestly shocked how easy it was.
I would just go cold turkey and see what happens. Especially since he was able to give it up at daycare.

DS was using it only to sleep. We went cold turkey. There was one night he cried and that was it.
Some people also recommended putting a small hole in it so it doesn't suck anymore and they lose interest on their own.
