OPKs revisted
Ladies,
What are (in your opinion) the best OPKs?
I was using First Reponse last cycle- but since my cycles are so long (over 40 days) i wound up using two packs which is pretty expensive.
So, I bought the Answer daily ovulation kit- the small strips in the tube with the cup. Do those work? I find the test lines (both control and test) are very light where as the First Response lines are very dark.
any thoughts?

Re: OPKs revisted
I've never used the ones where you need the cup. I liked the 1st response ( used those for this month)
I think they are more or less the same and its preference. I find that sometimes CVS puts the OPK on sale when I use my CVS savings card. ---Saves a lot of $$$$$$$ these things are expensive
Good luck
ETA- I used the Answer kit but the sticks and I thought they were pretty good. I am interested in the clear blue easy with the smiley faces- anyone?

Re: OPKs revisted
The most accurate opk is clearblue fertility monitor sticks. If you don't want to purchase the monitor, I can tell you how to read the sticks ...it's different than regular opks.

DO TELL I'll go buy them today during lunch!!! I'm on CD 15 but since my cycles are so long, I'm just about to start testing. Last cycle I started on CD 9- what a waste.

Re: OPKs revisted
Okay,....let me explain. The sticks, detect two hormones rather than just one. They detect LH...and estrogen.
The LH line is closest to the area in which you pee, and the estrogen line is the furthest away. Sort of like the opk or hpt "test" line. However...it's not a test line it's measuring estrogen.
When the estrogen in your body surges...the estrogen line will actually get LIGHTER...(very confusing here lol). Estrogen surges when LH surges and then you ovulate.
Basically ....you will probably start off with a very dark estrogen line...and a very faint LH line. As those lines start getting to be the same in color,...the estrogen line will lighten and the LH will darken....you are on HIGH fertility...when the LH line,...is darker than the estrogen line THAT'S PEAK AND YOU CAN BE Oing THAT VERY DAY. These sticks are very sensitive and have been the only opk that has continuously matched my bloodwork. You actually can use them as soon as you wake up as well. I will post a link to what the sticks will look like during HIGH , PEAK and LOW fertility.
They are expensive in the retail drug stores. However, the turn out to be fairly inexpensive, if you order them online. You get 30 sticks and can purchase them online for about 35 dollars.

Do you have a particular website that you order them from?

Re: OPKs revisted
I use the answer OPKs (the 20 day ones in the tube). I like them a lot - they are cheaper overall because of the number involved and they always give me a very definite surge line.

Re: OPKs revisted
You can purchase them on amazon.com...or drugstore.com but I think if you searched you can get them cheaper. Of course ebay has them as well

Can you use these with FMU? or must it be during the day?
