Re: Oprah on her dog's passing
Poor Oprah. Her dogs are her children. I can't imagine her grief in losing Gracie

Re: Oprah on her dog's passing
Yes this sso sad and I admit I am crying but i'm a little p*ssed too. She said that in losing Gracie she now knows what it feels like for a parent to lose a child and she can now, finally relate to her guests that have lost a child. This angers me. No I have never lost a child but I have lost pets and I can tell you my grief was nothing compared to the grief my parents felt when my sister died. Sorry to vent but there is another side of this story that needs to be stated also.

I am so sorry for your loss.
My husband feels as if he lost another child with Molly's passing. I have been explaining to him that while we loved her so much she still was a puppy and we have to remember that. We can get another puppy - not that she will ever replace Molly - but she will be able to ease the pain and we will love her just the same. We cannot get another son. I tell him that we created our son - and he's a part of us. Right now, it's just so raw that he doesn't understand - but, I guess to Oprah - her dogs really are the closest thing to her children so I can see where she says she feels like she lost a child bc we kind of feel that way also. Before my son came along - my DH was wondering if he could love him as much as he loved Molly. You just love these damn dogs so much - and then they are gone.
I guess it's all relative. Who knows. Sorry for your loss again. And, sorry to ramble on - I didn't even make any sense.

Re: Oprah on her dog's passing
Thanks....it's so hard to lose a pet unexpectedly. We delt with this last year. I does get easier, but it never goes away. Me lost Sadie in Aug 06 and just got a new kitten in Aug of 07. It takes time, but the memories are great. We talk about Sadie and laugh about how she did pull-ups. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. It does get easier, but it really takes awhile

Losing a pet is the absolute worst feeling. I can definitely relate.
