ordering food delivery and tipping via credit, not cash?
I always dole out cash tips for food delivery but I see now that if you pay by credit card beforehand, once the delivery person comes to your door, there's a place to add a tip to the credit card bill.
anyone ever do this? or is it considered bad form?

cash is king, but it can be done. Doing it on a credit card creates fees (although small) for the business and also forces that person you are tipping to claim that amount as a tip and will be taxed on it

I figured as much. I'm craving pizza and have only a dollar and my littlest is sleeping, so I didn't want to drag him out to pick it up.
I feel guilty throwing a tip on the card, especially as the guy won't get it right away.
I really need to start keeping more cash on me for situations such as these....

I would throw in an extra $1 or so. Then again, I am sure they would be happy with a c/c tip rather than delivering the food and someone saying "sorry, no cash for a tip"

........and I'm sure they rather me order food and spend money at their delicious establishment than just sit here and post about it, right? (see how I'm justifying my pizza craving?)

I will just put a slash through that line and give them cash for the tip.

If I ever tip on the CC I give a dollar more because I think they get taxed on it and the dollar isn't gonna break my bank...
