Organic Food Eaters
Can someone please explain how the following ingredient list qualifies this product to be labeled organic??
ORGANIC WHOLE GRAIN BROWN RICE FLOUR, TRI- AND DICALCIUM PHOSPHATE, SOY LECITHIN, MIXED TOCOPHEROLS (FOR FRESHNESS), ELECTROLYTIC IRON, ZINC SULFATE, ALPHA TOCOPHERYL ACETATE (VITAMIN E), NIACINAMIDE, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B6), RIBOFLAVIN (VITAMIN B2), THIAMIN MONONITRATE (VITAMIN B1), FOLIC ACID, VITAMIN B12 (CYANOCOBALAMIN)
As far as I can see, the first ingredient is organic, and I can't pronounce everything else.

As far as I can see, the first ingredient is organic, and I can't pronounce everything else.
My guess is the first one on list is the main substance of the product therefore they can call it organic.

Most of those ingrediants are chemical names for vitamins.
My guess is that this is a cereal product of some sort that has been fortified with B vitamins and iron.
ETA: even organic foods are allowed to be fortified and vitamins do not have the most pronouncable names. If it said Vitamin B 12 or B 6, it owuld be the same thing, just not in its legal name

There is a long list of natural and synthetic ingredients that can technically be considered organic. I would assume most of those (being mainly vitamins) would fall under that list.
I think there's some other rule that says that as long as the non-organic ingredients make up less than 5% of the total weight of the product, it can still be considered organic.

Does it say 100% USDA organic?
If not its not certified....Some items are 75% organic etc.

yeah, those are all vitamins.... I guess they all were purified from organic sources Is it certified organic?
I dunno.... I generally don't see a list like that on the stuff I buy...... but then again, I'm not a cereal person.
