Organic moms with kids in daycare...
How do you deal with them eating at daycare? Do you just let them eat what they're serving, do you pack you own food for DC for the day, or does your daycare offer organic or veggie meals?

Re: Organic moms with kids in daycare...
Our daycare doesn't provide meals, only snacks, except during the summer for camp.
For snacks, the teacher actually asked each family to pick a day to bring in a healthy snack. She requested organic/healthy, which we always bring in, but I know there are others who don't, but it's ok - everything in moderation, right?
When summer comes around, I usually tell her teachers that she will not be participating in the school lunch and instead I pack her a lunch. I do look at the menu for the week and every once in a while, if I see it's a healthy-esque meal, I send in a note giving them permission to let her eat what they are serving, but that's rare.

We are not 100% organic but I do prepare all of Lucas' meals and provide them to the daycare.
Even though his snacks (cheerios, goldfish, etc) are certainly not organic nor sugar free I still provide them so I can control the portion.

I'm not organic now, but I'm considering it for certain things, particularly milk and meat. For those of you whose kids are already on milk, do you bring in a container fo milk for them that they keep there or you let them have regular milk?

Re: Organic moms with kids in daycare...
as an Infant I provide all of his food so it is very easy to control now. Our particular daycare does not provide meals so that is how we'll deal with it in the future. However, they do provide snacks that are not organic. I'm OK with that. As long as they are healthy snacks I'm ok with it.
The daycare is going to have to abide by your wishes so if you want to feed your child 100% organic than all you need to do is provide all of his food and they will give it to him.

I used to provide the milk everyday in a thermos. You can go to Target or anywhere like that and pick up an insulated lunchbox, that usually includes an insulated thermos. I would just put enough milk in the thermos to cover her for the day.

Re: Organic moms with kids in daycare...
My DD has food allergies - and most of the things she eats is organic, so I pack her lunch and breakfast everyday. If the other kids are having a treat or something special is going on, I will either let her have what they are having, or try to copy it, but just make it Emma safe.

I pack the majority of his food, but let them give him anything that is vegetarian....
