Our Disney's Wilderness Lodge Stay
We stayed four nights at the Wilderness Lodge, Courtyard view in a bunk bed room on the 6th floor, and it was GREAT!! Highly recommend it. Pictures don't do the place justice at all! It's gorgeous, and the Christmas decorations were beautiful!
Very peaceful, relaxing resort. Very quiet, and I found it to be mostly older couples! Which is fine with me, less rowdy kids at the pool ;) Unlike most of the Disney resorts, everything is under one roof. No walking to the main building to get drinks, snacks, etc. This was a HUGE selling point for me. The walkway from the building to the bus stops was also covered, which was great when it was raining.
Another huge selling point was the boat transportation to the MK. I found it to be efficient and relaxing. Unlike the buses, which stress me out completely. There are two boats that run, a smaller one, and a larger one, and on the larger you aren't required to fold up the stroller. We always happened to get the larger boat, which was nice.
We visited the kids club for their free daily crafts one day (an ornament they colored). They also offer marshmallow roasting and movies on the beach in the evening. Pool activities during the day, and we were able to see the MK fireworks from the beach, and the electrical water pageant each night (which is soooo neat! Have seen it before from the MK dock but not with the music!) I tried to sign up to be the flag family of the day (you get to raise the flag on the roof) but it was booked up. So if you want to do that, def. ask right at check in.
I will say that the bus transportation stunk. We ended up taking the bus back from the MK one night because it was pouring and I didn't want to have to walk from the boat dock to the hotel room, and we waited forever, I guess because there was hardly anyone in our line, so they felt the need to dispatch to the other resorts with hundreds in line. It was also very slow to get to the other parks as well since it stops multiple places. But, we spent most of our time at the MK so it was fine.
We will most definitely be returning to this resort!

Sounds great. It is our next choice for sure. I also like everything being connected to the main lobby (sort of why I always liked the Contemporary).
Glad you had a great time! How was the decor in the rooms? Did you eat in the hotel, if so where and how was it?

Re: Our Disney's Wilderness Lodge Stay
The room decor was great, it reminded me a bit of Great Wolf Lodge (but nicer). The pics on the Disney website are outdated, they don't have those drab bedspreads anymore. We also received quite a few towel animals in made up to be various little critters, so that was cute.
We ate at the Roaring Forks cafe which is quick serve, but the food was great! I had the pasta chef's special one night, and the chicken ceasar the next, and it was pretty tasty. The breakfast was good too. As for sit down dining there, we ate at Whispering Canyon cafe for lunch, and that was yummy. The ketchup surprise is really funny, so if you eat there, take your camera

We LOVE WIlderness!! In fact we recommend it to everyone and they all are hesitant at first then everyone goes and says it was great! We wanted to stay there for our upcoming trip but only the higher level rooms were available and it was getting much more pricey.

Our Disney's Wilderness Lodge Stay
I've stayed at all of the WDW resorts and Wilderness Lodge is my favorite. Proximity to MK, the transportation options, the new decor (yay!), the homey feeling, and the concierge club all add up to make it the resort we tend to choose most often if there's no special reason to stay anywhere else.

Re: Our Disney's Wilderness Lodge Stay
Glad you had a great time! I get such great reviews from WL!
DEFINITELY bring a camera to Whispering Canyon Cafe.
My server apparently decided I drank my Diet Coke too fast and that she wasn't going to "keep filling this thing up all night". LOL. This was after I cut down half of the straw. LOL Image Attachment(s):

Oh, that darn straw... and 'possum. From September when we needed to test the new menu at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Darn.

Re: Our Disney's Wilderness Lodge Stay
When we went, one of the funniest things was when they went up to a girl and asked her her name and how old she was and then announced to the room "This is Carson, she's 12 years old and she needs a boyfriend!""
Then they dragged a boy about her age over and sang "Can you feel the love tonight" to them.
