Our little progress report
It's been a while since I reported on EJ's progress.
His eye contact is really improving. I am so proud of him. It's not 100% but it was never complete avoidance either from the beginning. But lately he will do what I call his "monkey phase" and he will look at me in the eyes to make sure I am looking at him and have a smurk on his face. He has learned to look at us when being engaged or "sharing" a moment. This is probably the best improvement if you know what ABA kids do or don't do. Sharing moments is huge.
Bath: after almost 1 year, I can say that for the past 3-4 times I can rince his hair with the cup and while the water still bothers him when falling on his face, he is much better at it... ie. no crying and sobbing to get a bath. He just tries to wipe the water with his hands and I follow with the towel immediately and that has seem to work. There is a bit of whining at first before we even go in the bath but he is doing so much better and slowly working himself out on his sensory issues. I guess pool and beach have really helped him this Summer.
He knows what the comb does and can now attempt to comb his hair if I tell him to do so.
On a side note, he was under the weather lately and I have taken his temperature a lot. I still do rectal. He wanted to hold the thermometer and I told him "you do" and he attempted to take his own temperature. 
Anyway, those are the progress we have made in the last few months.
