i wonder why they give out that #. maybe they think its a fake # and dont realize that someone will actually pick up the phone. cause i know when im shopping and people ask for my phone # i always make up a # off the top of my head or just take our phone # and change it up by a few digits. but its never the SAME # over and over again. they're definitely strange people.
Um... you do know you can just politely say, "I'd rather not give it out" when a cashier asks for your phone number, right?
of course i do. im not stupid. i just think its funny to give them a fake #. thats the big kid in me.

i dont think there is anything wrong with calling and confronting her. Not in a rude way, but just to question it. If you are not only getting collections calls, but are getting calls from priests, friends, etc, then maybe theres a mistake.
You never know, she can be disabled or something and accidentally be giving out a wrong #. I dont know - just sounds like from the calls you are getting that this is all an innocent mistake

The SAME exact thing is happening to us and we have been in our home since October 2006!!! We even get calls in the middle of the night from other countries and when I try to explain that it is the wrong # they don't understand and keep calling and calling and calling!!!
They still use this number for their cablevision and every time DH and I want to order something we have to call because it won't allow us to order from our T.V because apparently they owe Cabelvision $$$!!!
Its so completely frustrating!!!

In my first place I kept getting this girl calling her boyfriend. I kept telling her she had the wrong number. She finally went off on me on as to why I kept answering his phone and what I was doing there....so I told her She never called my number again!

I guess I'm a beyotch bc I wouldn't bother calling anyone telling them they have the wrong #, esp if you have the # for awhile. Who doesn't update their personal information? I don't mean here or there bc anyone can forget to update a couple things but so many calls?? Strange IMO
I can see it being annoying though...really annoying and if you have the # for 6 months, I'm sure you don't want to have to update all your info everywhere. Not sure what I would do.
Years ago, I use to get calls all the time for someone named Lee. Really current sounding calls, she apparently did freelance work of some kind and they were always calling her about her current work or next meeting. Dr appts, everything seemed fairly current. She even had a drunken friend who called from Alaska of all places and leave a 10 minute message on my machine. My brother one day said that maybe she had a different area code and it was the case. She had the same # but was area code 718 and I was 212.
I never even thought of it, I have no idea why this ditz didn't realize how many calls she was missing...surely a few people mentioned to her that they were leaving her messages and not getting replies.

Maybe they are running some kind of credit card scam & using your address & number?
If the calls are a major inconvenience, then change your number. If your family got used to your number back in July, they'll get used to another number.

YAY! I just called a doctors office back.....
the message the doctor left was like "umm we need to see you u have an appoint...o wait u just walked in nevermind"
So I called back and told the doctors office of this and the office said she just updated her phone number today.. YAY hopefully she gets it all updated with others there is hope yet for the madness to stop
